June 7, 2012, Aurora, NY – The Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau held its Annual Meeting June 5, 2012 at Long Point Winery, with Jim Trezise, President of the New York Wine & Grape Foundation as the featured speaker. Mr. Trezise spoke about the $3.76 billion New York grape, grape juice and wine industry that makes it America’s #3 grape and wine producer, generating 17,000 jobs and 4.98 million wine-related tourism visits. In the Finger Lakes there are currently 118 federally recognized wineries, with ten of them being in Cayuga County.
In addition to Mr. Trezise’s presentation, Outstanding Tourism Partner awards were presented to the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival and Long Point Winery. Departing board member, Kathy Walker, executive director of the Willard Memorial Chapel, was also recognized for her years of service on the tourism board.
