Word from the Dining Room!


Autumn is in the air in Aurora! It’s such a lovely time of year – bustling streets here in town, leaves changing, windy nights.  Our dining room staff has been busy creating new menus to reflect the best offerings of the local produce.  Dinner menu additions like our Autumn Dressing (rye croutons, fresh local pears, walnuts, and a house made cranberry sauce) have been well received by our guests after their long days touring the region and the near-peak foliage.  (Quick! It’s not too late to enjoy the beautiful colors so be sure to plan a drive through the area if you haven’t thus far).   Our new cocktail list includes signs of the season like the Fresh Peche (made by muddling peaches from Long Point Orchard).

We’re so thrilled to be partnering with local distilleries like Finger Lakes Distilling and Beak & Skiff to keep even our cocktail ingredients local and seasonal. I learned yesterday that Beak & Skiff is the only place (in the world) to distill gin from apples. Impressive.  And one of our Inn guests informed me this week that Finger Lakes Distilling has just released a new batch of Maplejack Liqueur (note to self:  must try this immediately).

This week will be busy in Aurora as we prepare for our Harvest Party on Friday night (October 11th) which will include Beak & Skiff cocktails, NY State Craft Beer flights, live jazz music and hors d’oeuvres.  Yum!

It’s such an exciting time.  My favorite season, by far.  This week I plan to pick apples, begin baking again, dig out my Fall wardrobe (since the weather seems to finally be changing), and, alas, rake some leaves.
