Grow, Pick, Learn!

Agri-tourism heats up for spring

Get back to nature by incorporating an agricultural experience into your Finger Lakes vacation. The farms of the Finger Lakes yield a bounty of fresh and flavorful produce each season, and many are open for tours or allow visitors to pick their own fruits and vegetables. Some communities also have farm markets, where local farmers and artisans are able to showcase and sell their goods. It doesn’t get any “greener” than this!

Long Acre Farms in Macedon has a myriad of hands-on activities for kids of all ages to enjoy. Special attractions are being added all the time, such as the “Amazing Maize Maze” and special events throughout the season. There is also a play area that includes a jumping pillow, giant sling shot, trike track, and more! For the grownups, Long Acre Farms also features JD Wine Cellars, celebrating its grand opening this summer.

The Windmill Farm & Craft Market and the Ithaca Farmer’s Market are two of the area’s largest farm markets. Both are well-established markets offering an abundance of vendors. There are also dozens of roadside stands around the region that can provide that off-the-vine taste.

Grisamore Farms in Moravia is a family-owned farm that has been in existence since 1927. The property features a corn maze, u-pick apples, cider making, a farm store, a greenhouse, and a Halloween maze in October.
