Attend with FLTA!  Upcoming Shows Tailored to Shoppers and the Group Travel Market Across the US!

FLTA will be participating in shows in the coming weeks where your business can be represented. Get in front of thousands of people at the AAA Southern New England show where travelers are collecting ideas for new destinations to visit and vacation. You can send your brochure or any marketing materials that specifically target this market for a very cost savvy rate. See detailed information below to get involved. FLTA will also be attending one more trade show in the first quarter of 2014 with attendance at the Heartland Travel Showcase. At this show, Jessica and participating booth sponsors will speak directly and provide Finger Lakes information to key decision makers who help guide groups on which locations to visit. As a brochure sponsor your business’ materials will go directly into the hands of dozens of key individuals in the group travel market. Groups are planning their summer and fall trips now and are evening starting to plan for 2015, so this is a key time to get your materials in their hands! Upcoming Consumer (Visitor) Shows and Group Travel Trade Show Information:

The AAA Southern New England Show saw over 18,000 people last year in Foxboro Massachusetts. This highly attended show with a very engaged and interested audience is one of the premier consumer shows FLTA attends year over year. FLTA recommends providing at least 300 of your business brochures, rack cards, or special marketing materials to send along for presentation and distribution at the show. Cost to be included and have your materials go into the hands of only interested individuals at the show is $220. Materials are requested to be at the FLTA office before Wednesday, March 5th. The Heartland Travel Showcase takes place in Toledo Ohio for the 2014 year. Heartland welcomes decision makers in the group travel market from the Heartland states representing a good portion of the Mideast. FLTA has learned through several years of attendance at this show that groups are visiting the Finger Lakes and requesting Finger Lakes specific partner business information as a result of our participation in the Heartland Travel Showcase. Booth sponsorships are currently sold out but there is still space to get your brochure or marketing material distributed on the Heartland Travel Showcase floor as well as included in a personalized mail out follow up to each operator from Jessica. Brochure distribution is $250. FLTA requests roughly 200 of your brochures to be delivered, sent, or picked up to come to the FLTA office by Wednesday, March 5th to take with us to the show March 7th through 9th. The next traveler focused consumer show right around the corner is the Travel and Vacation Show in Ottawa. Taking place on April 5-6th at the Ottawa Convention Centre, FLTA welcomes partner businesses to come on board and be represented at the Finger Lakes booth by traveling with us to the show to speak directly to travel oriented and interested show attendees. Cost to share a booth, receive contact information for those who enter to win a Finger Lakes sweepstakes offer, and speak directly to show attendees is $805. To send your brochures, the cost is $210 and FLTA requests at least 300 of your business brochures, rack cards, or marketing materials specifically for the show to be at the FLTA office before Thursday, April 3rd. BookDirect Soaring to New Heights

As many of our partners are well aware, in January of 2012 FLTA launched the BookDirect system on BookDirect is a system that links to an accommodation property's current reservation engine and displays a property's average room rate on to Visitors are then able to search for regional availability at area B&Bs, hotels, motels, vacation rentals, and even campground sites. The 2013 Year in Review (FLTA's annual performance report) is being compiled as we speak but we did want to share with our partners some very exciting news! In 2013 year to date the Book a Room system resulted in 146,820 searches for availabilty in the Finger Lakes region and 143,194 referrals to partner business websites. Everyone at the FLTA office is impressed by these numbers and we hope our partner businesses are too seeing the value in the ability to turn interested traveling visitors into guests at area accommodations. Thruway Participation

Every year along NYS I-90 FLTA staffs two major information centers at gateway locations just outside of Buffalo and Syracuse, and stocks these information centers with TONS of Finger Lakes information. Once we have those Eastern and Western information centers stocked with knowledgeable staff, regional travel guides, state maps and tons of partner business brochures, we then cover the southern gateway information center along Interstate 1-86 East at Chautauqa. FLTA staff at these information centers greets visitors and speaks with them about their travel plans enticing them with Finger Lakes business information to include in their vacation route based upon their specific travel interests. Thousands of brochures are distributed every year at these hot spot travel locations and by coming on board with FLTA your business will be represented by an educated staff member who will make sure materials get in visitors hands. Happenings Magazine – Target the Northeast Region of Pennsylvania

Happenings magazine is a beautiful tabloid (slightly smaller than 8.5 x 11) size glossy magazine that features articles on the Northeast region of Pennsylvania and periodically the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York. Help Us Promote Your Business!

As a part of FLTA’s marketing mission, the FLTA staff is always looking for no cost added ways to effectively market and promote our partner businesses. We market partner businesses through our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest and offer various sweepstakes giveaways at the consumer shows like the previously mentioned AAA Southern New England show and Travel and Vacation Show in Ottawa. These sweepstakes offers are provided to draw interest to the Finger Lake booth at shows. If you would like to offer a package for giveaway or marketing materials that we can use as giveaways for social media promotion giveaways of your business, FLTA staff would welcome and appreciate your offer very much! Items, packages, and giveaways that would work but are by no means limited to a complimentary overnight stay at your accommodation, marketing materials such as logo mugs, bags, clothing, a donation of Finger Lakes beer, wine, or spirits, promotional USB drives with your logo on it, or even pens/pencils! The Finger Lakes Sees Huge Coverage!

In the fall of 2013 FLTA hosted media writer and blogger Rania Walker and her family visiting the Finger Lakes from Oakville, Canada. Rania has incredible talent in her craft and created a Finger Lakes article that ran in her Canadian local newspaper, the Oakville Voice. Through continued communication with Rania, FLTA’s relationship with her has only strengthened and recently Rania contacted the FLTA office to let us know that on top of her newspaper article in the Oakville Voice, she created an article for the Huffington Post which highlighted seasonal activities in the Finger Lakes region and made mention of several FLTA partners.
