What: Finger Lakes Brochure Exchange
Where: Waterloo Premium Outlets (parking lot, held rain or shine)
When: May 15th from 10 AM to 12 PM
Why: To allow partners to pick up their copy of the 2013 Finger Lakes regional travel guide, gather to exchange their organization’s literature, and meet tourism industry peers.
Cost: No additional cost for FLTA partners (included in partnership fee) $100 for non-FLTA partners

Get Millions of Eyes on Your Business Advertising with FLTA and American Airlines
American Airlines/American Eagle has reached out to the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance with an offer to get our partner businesses in front of both US and international eyes. With American Airlines flying into Finger Lakes hubs such as Rochester, and Syracuse, and feeder cities like Buffalo, and Ottawa, you are sure to see visitors stopping in. Your business has the opportunity to be a part of a Finger Lakes focused ad with a direct call out to your business in the in-flight magazine reaching an audience of 4 million. The in-flight magazine will also have a digital replication for online viewing complete with click throughs to your business website. Along with all this great exposure for your business, American Airlines has told FLTA that advertising will accompany a full editorial article on the region. Talk about getting some great advertising bang for your buck. Have Great News or an Upcoming Event? Keep FLTA in the Loop!
Do you have great business news that you want to share or an outstanding event coming up this spring, summer, or fall? If so, please log in to the partner log in area of FingerLakes.org and submit a press release for posting. If you have an event, send the event name, date/time, location, brief description, and a URL with more information to Marketing Coordinator Jessica Robideau at email@example.com. All events and press releases will be posted on FingerLakes.org and may be used in a regional press release. These submissions are also eligible to be reposted through social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook as well for added exposure. Posting ability comes to all FLTA partners at no cost and is included in your yearly partnership cost.
Social Media Continues to Grow – Pin with Us
The new social media trend Pinterest is a fun network of visual wonder with content to link directly to a website. Pinterest is a social media network where users can create digital corkboards under a variety of headings, ie Tasty Things I Want to Eat, Places to Visit, and Fun Stuff. After creating these digital corkboards, users called Pinners can browse through images posted by their friends and tack these images on to one of their own boards. In an effort to collect more images and have fun and unique content we otherwise wouldn’t have been aware of, FLTA is calling on our partners to help ‘Pin’ to our Pinterest boards. FLTA’s boards consist of the following categories. If you have a Pinterest account for your business and would like to contribute posts/pins, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your business’ Pinterest account name and the email address associated with your account. Partners Singing the Praises of BookDirect
Since the launch of BookDirect, a direct booking engine that links to accommodation property’s reservacation engine, in January of 2012 FLTA has heard lots of great feedback from partners about this program. As BookDirect continues to grow and evolve (exciting new initatives are being coordinated behind the scenes, so be sure to stay tuned!) we are always glad to hear comments like the one from Robert Lawtry from Cobtree Vacation Rental Homes Resort: “We received a reservation today from guests arriving from Wales who found us via Fingerlakes.org”. If you have fun, exciting story from one of your visitors, please share it with us here at FLTA and we will spread the word where we can! Cheers.
Get Involved with Shows Consumers Attend at a Bargain Rate
Join FLTA at a consumer show in the fall. Partners can join FLTA at shows that consumers are looking to gather travel ideas at both the Connecticut Women’s Expo in September and the Toronto Show in November. There are two options on how to join FLTA at these shows. As a booth sponsor partners can attend the show with FLTA, speak with show attendees, pass out literature or promotional items and as a thank you for joining us your business will receive the leads of customers who enter into an FLTA provided sweepstakes.
The second level of participation at shows is more cost effective for smaller businesses. Brochure distribution at shows will ensure that your materials will get into potential visitors hands and no cost is incurred to travel to the show. It’s the best of both worlds. Pricing for each of the remaining consumer shows is outlined below:
