Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance’s Annual Brochure Exchange, sponsored this year by Stork Insurance, will be held on Wednesday, May 18. Here are all the details you need for this annual networking event:

What: Finger Lakes Brochure Exchange, sponsored by Stork Insurance 

Where: Waterloo Premium Outlets (parking lot, held rain or shine)

When: May 18th from 10 AM to 12 PM

Why: To allow partners to gather to exchange their organization’s literature and meet tourism industry peers.

Cost: No additional cost for FLTA partners (included in partnership fee)
        $100 for non-FLTA partners

NYSH&TA Stars of the Industry Awards

Congratulations to Sheila Thomas of Holiday Inn Elmira Riverview, who will be honored at the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association (NYSH&TA) Stars of the Industry awards. Sheila won in the Outstanding General Manager of the Year - 150 Rooms or Less Award category. She will receive her award at NYSH&TA’s Stars of the Industry Gala and Awards Banquet on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Conference Center Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls, NY, and will be featured in statewide press releases.

Increase Your Exposure in the Summer Months

The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance is introducing an opportunity for extra summer exposure in the Upstate New York market. Prime drive markets Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany will all be targeted.

The Finger Lakes region will have an advertising section in the Summer Guide in each of the following papers (combined readership of 400,000). Partners can save money and promote their business by purchasing an ad within the Finger Lakes page.

More Info on the Summer Guides:

  • Each newspaper produces a Summer Guide, a comprehensive listing of things to do and see during the summer months.

FLTA Internship Program

Sarah Osterling, FLTA’s Marketing Coordinator, has been named Keuka College’s Field Period Site Supervisor of the Year for 2011. Sarah is responsible for overseeing all FLTA interns. She will be honored at a luncheon at the college on May 6.

Also, FLTA is currently screening for summer interns. If you know anybody who may be interested, please have them send their resume to Sarah at saraho@fingerlakes.org. FLTA internships offer hands-on experience in marketing, public relations, and of course tourism.
