Cemetery Tour digs up new stories

All new and exciting this year’s group of infamous and famous Palmyrans influencing history with their dedication and enthusiasm are featured in this fourth annual Historic Palmyra cemetery tour to be held Friday and Saturday nights -- October 17th and 18th with performances at 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. both nights.    This year we are featuring about 12 or more unforgettable characters in the Village of Palmyra Cemetery between Vienna Street and Johnson Streets.   We will be visiting the center and west portions.   Your tour will be complete with free cider and donuts.   Come into the Vienna Street entrance and wait to be directed to park.
This year will feature many new residents with a visit by our ever popular Sir Winston Churchill and more visitors residing in Potter’s field.  Sibyl Phelps will welcome and guide you through the cemetery’s history and mystery as we walk these hallowed streets.    Soldiers and sailors, doctors and lawyers, and of course those that come to visit their dearly departed from far off locations.    You will meet these wonderful people and learn about the great influence they had on the county, state, nation and world.     We may meet a couple of old friends that insisted on coming back as well as our newly found, lost and forgotten.   “The best cemetery tour I have ever taken” can be heard by those that attend.
Don’t hesitate to call Bonnie at (315) 597-6981 or Irene at (315) 597-0011 to make your reservation or get additional information.    All children must be accompanied by adults.     Light rain or snow no problem but for a cloud burst we will still hold the tours at the Historic Palmyra Museum complex located on Market Street between E. Main and Canal Street.  Your tours will begin at 132 Market St.   Your donation of $6 will be taken at the start and all funds are used to keep the Historic Palmyra Museums maintained and operating.     We all will be waiting for you……
