Cheers to the Heineken/93Q Balloon Fest!

Liverpool, NY (December 7, 2007) – In a move reflecting Europe's leading brewer's interest in cultural event marketing and hot air ballooning, Heineken has joined radio station 93Q as the co-title sponsor of the annual Onondaga County Parks festival at picturesque Jamesville Beach Park.

"We're pleased that Onondaga Beverage has continued with their commitment to this regional kickoff to summer and looking forward to positioning Heineken products with beer garden touches and international foods which will make this event even more enjoyable for the region" stated Onondaga County Executive Nicholas J. Pirro.

The first version of the Heineken/93Q Balloon Fest is scheduled for June 13-14-15, 2008 at Jamesville Beach Park, with special shaped balloons, great musical entertainment, and waterfront fun serving as the primary draws for a projected 40,000 visitors. The hot air balloon event originated in 1980 as the Miller Balloon Festival and transitioned to Coors Light titling in 1995. "Special events are one of our most effective and efficient ways to promote our attractions, and through community leaders like Onondaga Beverage General Manager Bob Merriam we've been able to provide showcase programs highlighted by the Heineken/93Q Balloon Fest for nearly three decades" noted Onondaga County Parks Commissioner Robert Geraci. Heineken's lore in the sport of ballooning was established in the 1975 when the world's largest balloon, the 500,000 cubic foot 'Gerard A. Heineken' with its signature two tiered basket, set official altitude records.
