Yosemite 1938: On the Trail with Ansel Adams & Georgia O’Keeffe

Corning, NY (March 10, 2008) – In 1938, photographer Ansel Adams took a group of friends, including Georgia O’Keeffe and David McAplin, on a trip through Yosemite’s backcountry. The album produced from images of this trip comprises the stunning landscapes of Yosemite as well as intimate candid portraits of his life-long friends. This rare album and exhibition titled, Yosemite 1938: On the Trail with Ansel Adams and Georgia O’Keeffe from the National Museum of Wildlife Art, will be on loan from the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This exhibition will be accompanied by rarely seen photographs of Georgia O’Keefe in her New Mexico home by photographer Todd Webb.
The Museum will offer extended summer hours throughout the exhibition, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day. A variety of exhibition-related merchandise will be available in the Museum Trading Post gift shop. Membership to the Museum includes yearlong free admission. The Rockwell Museum of Western Art is offering FREE admission on the 30th of every month this year. As always, kids 17 & under are FREE.
