SPRING WINE & CHEESE WEEKEND TICKETS GOING QUICKLY
While a perennial favorite, tickets to the 2008 event are selling faster than ever.
Watkins Glen, NY (April 7, 2008) – The 2008 Spring Wine and Cheese Weekend, scheduled for the weekend of April 26 and 27, and co-sponsored by New York-based McCadam Cheese, continues to sell tickets faster than ever, potentially leaving interested participants accustomed to purchasing their tickets day of the event in a lurch.
Observed Paul Thomas, executive director of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, "While the Spring Wine & Cheese Weekend is without a doubt one of our most popular events, this year we're happy to report that affordable tickets to this event are selling considerably faster than ever before. Whether it's the growing popularity of "locavores", individuals so committed to our planet that they strive to eat as much local food as possible, thereby diminishing their carbon footprint, or the fact that with more participating wineries than ever before participants are guaranteed to safely enjoy more food and wine combinations than ever before, this event is very hot."
McCadam Cheese, a cooperative of dairy farmers from throughout New York State, has generously donated the several hundred pounds of diverse cheeses that will be used in all 34 recipes at participating wineries all around Seneca Lake. The Spring Wine & Cheese Weekend, like many Trail events, presents attendees with carefully considered wine and food pairings where the synergistic sum is greater than the parts. Some of the more intriguing food and wine combinations are as follows:
- Atwater Estate Vineyards, Smoked Turkey Quesadillas with dry Vidal Blanc
- Bloomer Creek Vineyard, Leek & Currant Rice Salad with Claret-style Cafe Red
- Fox Run Vineyards, Cheddar Cheese Pudding with Dry Riesling
- Cascata Winery at the Professor's Place, Baked Potato Soup with Fireside Chardonnay
Individuals interested in participating in this event can purchase their tickets ($25 for a regular ticket, $18 for a designated driver ticket) by calling the Seneca Lake Wine Trail offices toll-free at 877-536-2717 or can purchase them via our secure site at www.senecalakewine.com.
