LOCAL TEEN ORGANIZES BENEFIT FOR MERCY FLIGHT CENTRAL
AT BRISTOL MOUNTAIN WINTER RESORT
Canandaigua, NY (May 5, 2008) – On Thursday, May 1, 2008 Mercy Flight Central Inc. received $282 from Bristol Mountain Winter Resort representing proceeds raised during a terrain park event known as a “Park Jam”. The 2008 Mercy Flight Park Jam was held on March 23, 2008 in Bristol Mountain’s Morning Star Terrain Park and was the brainchild of local Webster Schroeder High School senior Kevin Arndt.
Kevin approached Bristol Mountain over the 2007-08 winter season inquiring as to the possibility of holding a fundraising event in response to an assignment given by his humanities teachers as a senior project. During initial planning sessions with Bristol Mountain staff Kevin noted that In 2006 his grandfather fell out of a tree stand and received the services of Mercy Flight Central Inc. Kevin recognized the outstanding care that his grandfather received and as a result choose Mercy Flight Central Inc. to be the recipient of proceeds from the Mercy Flight Central Inc. Park Jam.
In addition to conceiving and implementing an original t-shirt and poster design, and acquiring several local sponsors Kevin worked closely with Bristol Mountain staff to help coordinate the event which gave participants a chance to demonstrate their abilities on terrain park features such as 48 foot long steel railings, curved and angled boxes as well as performing big air jumps and half pipe maneuvers.
Patricia Miller, Director of Development for Mercy Flight Central Inc. said, “Kevin did a fantastic job organizing the event and the fact that he was able to put together the many elements in such a short period of time with no prior experience is remarkable.”
