Summer of Love Shoe Festival begins July 31
with a New Way to Experience Dance
Five events offer casual and personal interaction with world-class artists in Ithaca, NY
Ithaca, NY (July 30, 2007) – The Summer of Love Shoe Fest is coming to Ithaca. What is the Summer of Love Shoe Fest?
It's an edgy and off-beat celebration of movement, performance, dance and shoe stories featuring local and international performance artists and members of the Ithaca/Tompkins County community. Each event offers a new way to experience dance, with casual and personal interaction among local seasoned professionals and world-class artists.
Created by Festival Director Jim Self, who is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance at Cornell University, Love Shoe Fest director and dance artist Self collaborates with local performance artists Peter Chwazik, Richard Driscoll, Ruby Max Fury, Jeanne Goddard, Norm Johnson, Dan Kiely, Polly Kiely, Janice Kovar, Steve Stull, and internationally acclaimed dancers Jonah Bokaer, Holley Farmer, Banu Ogan, Rashaun Mitchell, and Michael Cole.
This event is supported by NYS Dance Force (www.danceforce.org), a statewide network of dance activists committed to increasing the quantity and quality of dance activity across the state of New York. Each year DF members create exciting and innovative projects that connect dance artists with communities. The Festival is also supported by the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County, The New York State Council on the Arts, Altria, Cornell University, The Common Ground and Bool's Flower Shop.
