Passengers should dress appropriately for the weather because the

The Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society was organized in 1994 to
preserve the memory of the Lehigh Valley Railroad and its employees in
New York State. The society currently has 150 members. In October
2001, the LVRRHS purchased the ex-New York Central Railroad freight
station in Shortsville for use as a museum and meeting place. The
proceeds from the train excursions will benefit the society's museum
plans.
The Finger Lakes Railway, based out of Geneva, runs trains almost every
day of the week. Most of them are freight trains, but you may have seen
people waving at you from one of their six passenger coaches. Passenger
train excursions began in 2000 with special events for local groups and
have expanded to include public rides as well as fundraising excursions,
where a portion of the proceeds gets donated back to a sponsoring
organization.
These special events are planned in conjunction with local non-profit
organizations to help them raise awareness and raise much needed funds
for community projects.
This year, the Finger Lakes Scenic Railway has booked over 10
fundraising events that result in a train ride for either families or
adults only. In September, there are four wine and cheese trains that
cover tracks from Geneva to Solvay as well as Geneva to Shortsville.
October will have fundraising, family foliage rides out of Auburn,
Shortsville, and Watkins Glen. Then the community holiday trains begin
in late November and run through December from Solvay, Camillus, Cayuga,
Seneca Falls, Geneva, Shortsville, and Watkins Glen.
