Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!! The Depot in Newark Valley, home to the Depot Friday Nights series, is adding a new venture this year, Concours D’Elegance. Old-time and nearly old-time vehicles are invited to “Cruise- In” to the Depot on the first Saturday of each month from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM starting in June and continuing through September. Opening night will be June 1. This “Cruise In” is NOT limited only to cars of a particular vintage; if it has wheels and you are proud of it, bring it down! There is no charge and the public is encouraged to come. Refreshments will be available--ice cream sundaes and banana splits are the specialty at the Depot. While you are there be sure to tour the 1800s railroad station and caboose. The waiting room is home to a historical review of the history of the wheel and the bicycle, compliments of the Newark Valley Town Historians. This event promises to be lots of fun as we step back in time to a by-gone era of slower moving conveyances, while mingling with more modern modes of transportation, all the while enjoying the charming atmosphere of an 1800’s railroad depot.

Syracuse,NY- Cher Lloyd, who rose to fame when she finished fourth in the seventh series of The X Factor, is a British singer-songwriter and model. She will be coming to Destiny USA on June 1 to perform some of her newly released singles and interact with fans here in the Syracuse area.
Soon after Lloyd appeared on The X Factor she was signed to Syco Music. Lloyd recorded two singles including her debut single “Swagger Jagger” and “With Ur Love” both released in 2011. “With Ur Love” featuring well-known singer Mike Posner, peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart, and number five in Ireland. Her third single “Want U Back” debuted on May 22, 2012 in the United States.

At 1 p.m., Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum Director Joe O'Toole will discuss the Battle of Sodus Point which was fought June 19, 1813, during the War of 1812. This presentation is free and will be held in the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum pavilion. A tour of the Lighthouse, including the War of 1812 exhibition, is $4/adults and $2/children.
Guests will be invited to compare the difference between aged wine and "young" wine, as well as the unique flavors created in each vintage by different growing conditions. Innovators and Legends: Generations in Textiles and Fiber is an exhibition of artwork by multiple generations of top-tier, internationally celebrated fiber artists. The exhibit was organized by the Muskegon Museum of Art for a national tour.
Hawaiian Petroglyphs in Felt and Stitch by Angela Maroun
Angela Maroun has been a textile artist since 2006. She utilizes shibori dyeing techniques and screen printing with dye and textile paints to create layered patterning on cloth. Hawaiian Petroglyphs in Felt and Stitch includes 12 works that are inspired by Petroglyphs located on Hawaii's Big Island.

This annual event is host to over 20,000 guests each year; offering plenty of food, entertainment on every street corner, and up to 200 vendors. According to Stella Reschke, Tioga County Tourism Director, the festival committee has tried to incorporate new and exciting activities for the festival to attract visitors from all over. “We usually see lots of new faces come in for the festival from all over the Northeast because strawberries are a universally much-loved fruit, and it's just a really fun couple of days.” said Reschke.
The Strawberry Festival has included some new and returning features to this year’s event. In addition to the over 200 vendors and the fabulous entertainment throughout the streets on Friday's Block Party and on Saturday, the festival will also include:

plans for the upcoming 33rd Annual Strawberry Festival to be held Friday night, 5:30-10:30 pm June 14 and on Saturday, June 15, 9:00-5:00 pm.
This annual event is host to over 20,000 guests each year; offering plenty of food, entertainment on every street corner, and up to 200 vendors. According to Stella Reschke, Tioga County Tourism Director, the festival committee has tried to incorporate new and exciting activities for the festival to attract visitors from all over. “We usually see lots of new faces come in for the festival from all over the Northeast because strawberries are a universally much-loved fruit, and it's just a really fun couple of days.” said Reschke.
The Strawberry Festival has included some new and returning features to this year’s event. In addition to the over 200 vendors and the fabulous entertainment throughout the streets on Friday's Block Party and on Saturday, the festival will also include:

The Knoll's unique topography was created by glacial activity and flowing water. Today, the Knoll is ablaze in spring with vibrant white, yellow, pink, and red blossoms of the Bowers Rhododendron Collection. The rhododendrons and azaleas are interspersed with small flowering trees, ferns, and perennials—including an extensive hosta collection—all shaded by century-old white pine trees. In the event of rain, very wet, or hot conditions, the program will be held in the Library's Thaler/Howell Programming Room. Join in the bicentennial commemoration of the Battle of Sodus Point! At 6 p.m., refreshments will be served at the Sodus Point Fire Hall in front of the mural depicting this War of 1812 battle. At 7 p.m., at the Sodus Bay Lighthouse pavilion, Dave Ruch will perform songs from the War of 1812 using a variety of instruments. His appearance is made possible by the New York Council for the Humanities. At 8 p.m. there will be a commemoration of the battle at the two war memorials on Bay Street, Sodus Point. All events are FREE.

6:00 pm An annual Library favorite, the Senior Theatre Troup of Lifelong performance will feature humorous and serious stories from troupe members' lives. This year's stories will relate to the theme memory. The Troupe performs simply, with no lights, props or sets. The theatre being performed is developed from themes the actors pick, and the stories they tell are based on their own experiences. The Troupe is directed and coordinated by Sue Perlgut and features Connie Currier, Carolyn David, Natasha Tall, Carol Santucci, Deirdre Silverman, Mark Silverman and Vi Street. The plays and theatre exercises performed are developed using improvisational theatre techniques, some of which will be demonstrated during the Library performance.
