Annual Festivals & Special Events

Fun for the whole family

There are a number of great annual festivals and events throughout the Finger Lakes every year. Finger Lakes events showcase the rich character of our communities year-round.

The Finger Lakes is wine country, so don't forget to check on special events with our Wine Trail partners. But, there's much more to the Finger Lakes. Events centered around outdoor adventure, our rich history, the changing seasons, harvest season and the region's agricultural bounty, sport and music are never far away.

GlassFest in Corning celebrates the long history of glass and glassmaking in Corning, with many events held in Corning’s Gaffer District and at the Corning Museum of Glass. Looking for out of the box unique celebrations of music, art, and more? Don’t miss the Rochester Fringe Festival celebrating the not so mainstream art of the ‘fringes’. More music abounds at the Geneva Music Festival with music and the arts taking place with celebrations around the Finger Lakes in various towns and communities.

Live music can be found throughout the region nearly every day of the week by visiting our partner FLX Music 247.

Find true local culture in the county fairs hosted in each of the 14 counties of the Finger Lakes. There you will find the taste, sights and sounds of summer in the region.

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

Prepare to be mesmerized by the power and spectacle of this unforgettable musical.

Based on the Victor Hugo novel, and the Academy Award nominated score with songs from the brilliant minds behind Broadway’s Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Pippin and Wicked, this sweeping score and powerful story create a night of magical theatre. In 15th century Paris, deformed bellringer Quasimodo yearns to explore life beyond the confines of Notre Dame. When he encounters a beautiful gypsy, his sights are set. However, she becomes the focus of several men and as they vie for her attention, an epic battle erupts begging the question — what is a man and what is a monster?

Book Club Logo
The Book Club Play at Bristol Valley Theater

A stinging, smart comedy about books and the people who love them. Laughter and literature collide when five friends and their devoted book club become subjects of a documentary film. While the camera rolls and the wine flows, a lot more than literature gets discussed. Truths are told and secrets are revealed as the club members find that there is more to a book - and life - than the cover!

The Book Club Play runs July 28 - August 7. For more information and to order tickets, call us at 585-374-6318 or visit our website at bvtnaples.org!

Wild Grasses of the Cayuga Lake Region

Wild grasses are everywhere, but many people may find it hard to tell the difference between native, non-native, and invasive species.

This program aims to explain what native grasses are and why they are better for the soil and for local wildlife than non-native varieties.

This program is free. Donations are always appreciated: https://www.cayuganaturecenter.org/donate

Quilt Divas: Looking In, Looking Out, Looking Forward

Quilt Divas: Looking In, Looking Out, Looking Forward
Art show opening reception: Saturday 8/6/2022, 7:00-9:00
With music by pianist Joe Pepper, wine and light refreshments

Show runs 8/6/2022 - 9/23/2022
Open gallery hours each Friday and Sunday noon to 4 (except Labor day weekend)

A global pandemic and climate change are affecting our entire planet. Political chaos, social injustice and war have only added to our personal and collective anxieties. In many ways, we are all living through a time of turmoil and fear, grief and loss. Yet, for some, the past couple of years have also offered unexpected gifts. As a group of artists, many of whom have been working together for 20 years, The Quilt Divas needed to find new ways to connect with each other, and individually found opportunities for introspection, sanctuary, and creativity.

“Looking In, Looking Out, Looking Forward" is our visual interpretation of a period of change and uncertainty. Whether our dominant emotion is hope, courage or some combination of complex emotions, we urge you to join us in looking forward. Please visit our website to learn more about us: www.thequiltdivas.com Note: This is an expanded version of a show that took place in Ithaca, in April.

Their selection of wines has increased to 20 varietals and blended wines and mead. Over 500 medals and trophies attest to Lakewood's dedication to consistently high-quality wines.

David Whitehouse Research Resident Artist Lecture | Phoebe Stubbs

Glass artist Phoebe Stubbs will be participating in the David Whitehouse Research Residency from August 8 -27, 2022.  Please join us for a lunchtime lecture presented by Phoebe on August 18 at 12:00 pm in the Seminar Room of the Rakow Research Library.

During her residency, Stubbs will explore the physical properties of glass to refract and reflect light as well as how lenses have been physically made throughout history.  She will also study the writings of sixteenth and seventeenth-century philosophers and astronomers to further her investigation of how language used to describe glass science, mirrors language used to describe bodies, emotions, and more abstract ideas.

Free and open to the public; no reservations required.

Past | Present Hot Glass Live Stream
Past | Present Hot Glass Live Stream

Our exhibition Past| Present: Expanding the Stories of Glass shows how the stories that objects tell are always evolving.  Past | Present explores how objects reveal stories about people across time and place, and how the Museum can broaden voices and narratives in our galleries. The text in this exhibition—which emerged from dialogues among curators, educators, scholars, artists, and other community members—is only a starting point.

In these unique hot glass demos, our glassmakers are joined by Museum curators to explore ideas and create objects which expand on the themes found in the exhibition.

Mennonite Horse & Carriage
NOT Your Typical Upstate NY Mennonite & Amish Tour

Many Amish & Mennonite families began purchasing farmland throughout the state of New York making the state one of the fastest-growing Amish and Mennonite populations in the country. The combined population between these (2) groups is approximately 25,000. Penn Yan, NY where, many of them have settled, lies at the north end of the east branch of Keuka Lake.

Our excursion begins just outside of the village of Penn Yan which originally was said to have been contrived from the first syllables of “Pennsylvania” and “Yankee”. These early settlers were from Pennsylvania and the New England area with the latter being known as Yankees.

Offered every Tuesday beginning in May and running through the end of October, this (4.5) hour tour is designed specifically to encourage each guest to participate fully.

Get ready to…

♦ Journey back to an uncomplicated time
♦ Enjoy the region’s quintessential excursion
♦ Experience an uncommon physical challenge
♦ Absorb the countryside views of rural Yates County

Niko Moon at Chevy Court Stage

Fast-rising country music star Niko Moon will make his Great New York State Fair debut Friday, August 26 at 6 p.m. on the Chevy Court stage. His song, “Good Time,” hit number 1 on the Billboard country music charts and spent nearly half of 2021 on the top 40 pop music chart. All concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with Fair admission. Concerts at the Fair are sponsored by Chevrolet.

RCA Nashville breakthrough recording artist Niko Moon kicked off 2021 by topping multiple charts with his Platinum-selling debut single “GOOD TIME.” With more than 250 million on-demand streams, “GOOD TIME” helped catapult Moon to No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart and has been lauded as “a bottle-passin' campfire daydream” (Tennessean), solidifying the genre-defying entertainer’s reputation as “One of the most genuine and creative artists in country music right now” (THINK Country Music). Born in Tyler, TX, Moon relocated to Douglasville, GA at age 10, equidistance from hip-hop hub Atlanta and country breeding ground Newnan, GA, inspiring his artful persona: a mix of hooky melodies, shrewd wordplay and edgy, electronic beats. With five song writing No. 1 hits (Zac Brown Band’s “Loving You Easy,” “Homegrown,” “Beautiful Drug,” “Keep Me In Mind,” and “Heavy Is The Head”) plus co-pen credits on singles by Dierks Bentley and Ashley Monroe, among others, Moon continues to turn heads and has been named an artist to watch by CMT, Amazon Music, MusicRow, NY Country Swag, and more. He is currently self-producing his debut full-length project alongside longtime collaborator and friend Joshua Murty.

Ithaca, New York’s The Dart Brothers are filled with ambition and honesty and a growing signature sound with a rock n’ roll foundation and just the right amount of pop and alt country polish.

Hailing from all around the Ithaca area, their 5-piece sound is essentially comprised of guitars, drums, bass and vocals. While their music is original, their influences are familiar, and range from the Jayhawks and REM to the Beatles and The Band, from Dawes and Pink Floyd to The Guess Who and Motown. The Darts are relatively new on the scene, but each of the members are alumni from other bands: The Bay-area’s The Naked Barbies, The New York Rock, Cats Elbow, Radio London, Lil Anne & Hot Cayenne, and a number of others in and around our area.

Singer/guitarist Todd Edmonds, bassist Rick Kline, drummer Dan Lashkoff, lead guitarist Rob Van Vleet, and rhythm guitarist Andy Russell all contribute to the songwriting task, adding layers to material each member might bring to the group. It is a process that has yielded some really great collaborations.
