Preparing for Winter

 

All-Day events and demonstrations of life in a 19th century village:

•           Meat preservation, including butchering, brining, salting, sausage-making and smoking

•           Trade demonstrations: Blacksmith, Cooper, Tinsmith

•           Spinning yarn, candle-making, warm garment making

•           19th century farming practices at Jones farm

•           Tour the brewery

•           Food tastings

•           Carving wooden taps (spiles) for the spring maple season, plus a hike on the nature trails to explore the process of tree-tapping

•           An array of Victorian crafts to make-and-take, perfect for holiday gift-giving

•           Flint Hill Store open for shopping, a donation to the Mitten Tree receives 10% regularly-priced items

Genesee Country Village & Museum, the largest living history museum in New York State, and the third largest in the nation.
