Stevie Tombstone to Perform in Cayuga Museum’s Carriage House Theater

On Friday, March 31 from 7-9 PM, come to the Cayuga Museum of History and Art’s Carriage House Theater for an intimate evening of original folk country with vintage blues influences by award winning musicians, featuring Stevie Tombstone and special guests the Loren Barrigar Duo.

Stevie Tombstone is a quintessential troubadour, a veteran musician who crafts powerful folk songs tinged with classic country and vintage blues influences. In addition to producing and writing for other artists, Stevie still maintains a hardcore troubadour outlook, enjoying a grassroots following that's kept him on the trail for the last three decades.

International Award Winning Guitarist Loren Barrigar will start the evening out. Loren is the youngest instrumentalist to perform at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Loren settled in Central New York and has raised his family while playing on countless recordings as a studio musician and performing in several bands. He spent six years touring Europe and the United States with another fine guitarist, Mark Mazengarb. Loren has performed with a who's who list of acoustic players from Tommy Emmanuel to Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney's guitarist).

As a songwriter his melodies have been featured on TV shows such as "ER" and "The Young and The Restless" as well as receiving an International Acoustic Music Award for best instrumental for his original, "Onward". Loren's talents have earned him six Sammy Awards thus far ranging from Best Instrumentalist to Best Recording.

Admission is $12 advance sale (available through March 30), $15 day-of online and at the door.

You can find the link to purchase  advance sale tickets at cayugamuseum.org/upcoming-events-and-performances/. The Carriage House Theater is located at 203 Genesee St. (rear) in Auburn. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the theater and on Genesee St.

Have you ever been tempted to flee your own life? Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage—with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night a socially inept and grief-struck millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life…and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t dare. BECKY’S NEW CAR is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

barrel and tank sample fridays
Barrel and Tank Sample Fridays

Do you consider yourself an aficionado of sorts? A connoisseur devoted to wine? If so, we’ve got the perfect promotion for you.

On every Friday in March, the member wineries of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail will be offering you a tank or barrel sample to go along with the purchase of your flight or tasting.

This isn’t just “getting an additional wine sample.” This is getting to taste a wine before it’s ready for the bottle. It’s getting to taste the wine before it’s mature, filtered, etc.

It’s getting to taste a part of the winemaking process.

The tank or barrel sample you have will* align with what’s in your flight or tasting selection, so you’ll get to experience the “before and after” of that wine.

But even if you aren’t an aficionado or connoisseur, this tasting will still be such an eye-opening experience and will give you a greater appreciation for the steps that go into creating your favorite wine.

So pick a Friday (or 2) and swing into any of our 12 wineries during the month of March for your Tank or Barrel Samples.

*Exceptions to this may apply depending on your selection and what they have in their tanks and barrels.

Four Centuries at Taughannock Falls

Join us on a 22-minute journey through more than four hundred years of history at Taughannock Falls State Park in Trumansburg, NY, ten miles north of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes region. One of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States, Taughannock is taller than Niagara and has been an attraction since before the Civil War.

In this encore episode (69) of Walk in the Park from 2014, narrator Tony Ingraham will take you from Cayuga and Iroquois Indian towns at Taughannock Falls, on the west shore of Cayuga Lake, to war with Lenape or Delaware Indians, to the Revolutionary War and the Sullivan Campaign invasion, to early settlers, steamboats, a railroad, tourist hotels, and finally to the creation of Taughannock Falls State Park. The park has its own history, with Civilian Conservation Corps work, floods, park planning, construction, and expansion, summer concerts, and interpretive exhibits. Join us on this journey through time at a singularly scenic location in New York’s beautiful Finger Lakes region.

Walk in the Park is a public access TV series produced in Ithaca, NY by Owl Gorge Productions, a Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance partner business. Watch more episodes!

CeleBrunch: a 40th Anniversary Celebration

Brunch without bubbly is just a sad breakfast - but we've got a great reason to party. It's our 40th anniversary, and to celebrate, we're inviting everyone to travel the Trail for brunch. The wineries are whipping up some delectable brunch items paired with carefully selected wines for your sampling. Get ready for the bubbles, it's CeleBrunch!

  • April 1st and 2nd from 10am to 5pm, both days
  • 10 participating wineries
  • This event is structured like our pre-2020 events:
    • Select a specific starting winery for you and your friends to start at. (This is where you’ll receive your fluted wine glass!)
    • Travel the trail as you please after your first stop.
    • The ticket is good for BOTH days, so feel free to spread the wineries out over both days or come on just Saturday or just Sunday. (Pro-tip: Sunday tends to be a lighter day, so the wineries won’t be as crowded, which makes for an excellent time to visit and get more one-on-one attention with less waiting.)
  • Groups are limited to 12.
  • Expect diversity. Some wineries will be offering the standard bar tasting while others will be offering a sit-down experience that may take longer. Take your time during the day and enjoy both!

Tickets:

Each ticket is good for the whole weekend to visit each winery once. Single tickets are $75 (plus tax and service fee) and include:

  • 1 wine and food pairing at each winery
  • 3 additional wine tastings per winery
  • 1 recipe collection
  • 1 souvenir fluted wine glass

Discounted designated driver tickets are also available. The DD gets all the same perks as a regular ticket, minus the wine. They also get a DD travel mug, rather than a wine glass. $37 for a single (plus tax and service fee).
