Fall foliage is in abundance this month so taking a trip to tour around and see the changing colors on the trees, grapevines and more can’t be missed. The Finger Lakes Region is a vast area beckoning the adventurous traveler to be explored and enjoyed!  With (11) Finger Lakes to choose from in upstate New York, it only seemed fitting to feature a distinctive old/new lakefront area tour of the 4th largest of those Finger Lakes: scenic and panoramic Canandaigua Lake.

NOT Your Typical Upstate NY Mennonite & Amish Tour

Many Amish & Mennonite families began purchasing farmland throughout the state of New York making the state one of the fastest-growing Amish and Mennonite populations in the country. The combined population between these (2) groups is approximately 25,000. Penn Yan, NY where, many of them have settled, lies at the north end of the east branch of Keuka Lake.

Our excursion begins just outside of the village of Penn Yan which originally was said to have been contrived from the first syllables of “Pennsylvania” and “Yankee”. These early settlers were from Pennsylvania and the New England area with the latter being known as Yankees.

Offered every Tuesday beginning in May and running through the end of October, this (4.5) hour tour is designed specifically to encourage each guest to participate fully.

Radisson Hotel Corning welcomes in the summer season this June with complimentary, open-air concerts at its stylish outdoor restaurant, Market Street Social.  The “Gateway to the Southern Finger Lakes” boasts Corning’s only alfresco dining and music venue in the heart of the historic Gaffer District where Market Street begins.   This summer, guests and locals alike are invited to immerse themselves in the electric atmosphere of Market Street Social, which offers two concerts a week and new seasonal food and beverage menus.  

Live music nights, aptly named Market Street Social Live, take place twice a week on Thursday and Friday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm (current schedule appears below).  The culinary team spearheaded by Executive Chef Sean Glacken has also introduced a seasonal menu punctuated by plates conducive for sharing.  The kitchen incorporates locally sourced Finger Lakes ingredients, wines, and beers as much as possible.   Highlights from the new menu include fresh strawberry almond salad, Cubano sandwich, scallop and pork belly duet, and sesame crusted ahi tuna.  Reservations are available by contacting 607.962.5000 ext 127.

Radisson Hotel Corning welcomes in the summer season this June with complimentary, open-air concerts at its stylish outdoor restaurant, Market Street Social.  The “Gateway to the Southern Finger Lakes” boasts Corning’s only alfresco dining and music venue in the heart of the historic Gaffer District where Market Street begins.   This summer, guests and locals alike are invited to immerse themselves in the electric atmosphere of Market Street Social, which offers two concerts a week and new seasonal food and beverage menus.

The Windmill’s Fall Fest will take place two days, the Saturday and Monday of Columbus Day weekend. The Windmill’s Fall Fest will take place two days, the Saturday and Monday of Columbus Day weekend. Activities will include pumpkin and face painting for the kiddos, Caricature art by Devon Rose, a petting zoo with live reindeer, etc. There will also be a scarecrow contest, pumpkin contest, featured Fall foods and beverages, a lamb exhibition and spinning demonstration as well as vendor demonstrations. NOT Your Typical Upstate NY Mennonite & Amish Tour

Many Amish & Mennonite families began purchasing farmland throughout the state of New York making the state one of the fastest-growing Amish and Mennonite populations in the country. The combined population between these (2) groups is approximately 25,000. Penn Yan, NY where, many of them have settled, lies at the north end of the east branch of Keuka Lake.

Our excursion begins just outside of the village of Penn Yan which originally was said to have been contrived from the first syllables of “Pennsylvania” and “Yankee”. These early settlers were from Pennsylvania and the New England area with the latter being known as Yankees.

Offered every Tuesday beginning in May and running through the end of October, this (4.5) hour tour is designed specifically to encourage each guest to participate fully.
