Celebrate Halloween all month-long at October Events

Fall is in full swing this month.  No tricks here, just tons of fun events and even the scent of grapes or apples being pressed in the air! Whether you want to take a hay ride, enjoy the fall foliage or find a place to get spooky, we’ve got all the best October events just for you!

Fairy Magic at The Strong's Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden
Fairy Magic in Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden at The Strong

Take a magical stroll through Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden at The Strong Museum. Listen to enchanting music as you walk among hundreds of butterflies and whimsical flowers, and check out fairy house doors by local artist Chris Pallace and Kevin Serwacki*. Garden fees apply.

Food & Wine Experience

Enjoy a unique tour with a lunch focused on food and wine pairing. You’ll begin by sipping our welcome wine while you enjoy an in-depth tour of the vineyards and winemaking facility, which overlooks Seneca Lake. Following the tour, join the owners and chef Brud Holland for a plate of six delicious bites alongside a flight of six incredible wines, including a dessert wine. Lunch will be served in our historic barrel room—a restored dairy barn from the 1800s.

Join us for the Food and Wine Experience select Fridays, July through October, starting at 11:30 AM.

2021 Dates: July 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30; August 6, 13, 20, & 27; September 3, 10, & 17; October 1, 8, 15, & 22.

Tickets are $50 per person + tax + gratuity. Reservations required.

Release your tensions by hurling pumpkins with a giant slingshot on weekends in September and October.  Large groups may schedule an appointment to hurl pumpkins on other days.

Those looking to continue the Oktoberfest dining revelry but shift gears from German classics can check out Smoketoberfest at Radisson Hotel Corning, October 5th through the 9th.  This 2nd Annual event will feature smoked food and drink menus at both Market Street Social and Grill 1-2-5.   Items include smoked vodka martini, smoked gin and tonic, smoked Manhattan, smoked jalapeno butternut squash soup, smoked cheddar and potato perogies, smoked pulled pork BBQ sliders, smoked beef brisket sandwich, smoked salads, smoked fish, smoked chops, and more.  Reservations are available by contacting 607.962.5000 ext 127.

Harvest Festival 2021 - Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Hunt Country Vineyards

In 1981 Hunt Country Vineyards began as a winery.  In 1988, the Hunt's began the tradition of our Annual Harvest Festival to celebrate the winery and the harvest.  Join us this year for the 33rd Annual Harvest Festival to celebrate 40 years of Hunt Country Vineyards.

Cheers to the past, present, and future!!!

Wines, Libations, & Food:

Tastings: Wine tastings are $10 for five wines. We have some new vintages, and new wines that we are excited to share with you.  
Reservations for tastings are not required, but highly recommended.  Reservations guarantee tastings.  Our tasting room and porch seating will be reserved for tastings inside and outside under our covered porch.  

There will also be bar service outside where guests can purchase wines by the glass or bottle, as well as beer from Climbing Bines Hop Farm & Brewery.  Tables and seating outdoors and about our grounds will be available without reservations, first come first serve.  This is a rain or shine event.  Cover will be provided if there is inclement weather.

Food & Libations: The Anita Pizza Food Truck will be on site for noshes and to fill the air with the amazing smells of pizza as it bakes to perfection. Grape pies by Jeni's Pies will be available to purchase, whole or by the slice.  And we have a whole variety of picnic items and snacks in our gift shop that include local cheeses, salamis, ferments, olives, nuts, popcorn, pretzels, chips, crackers, salsa, specialty mustards, Hedonist chocolates, grape candy, etc...  We also offer local beer, kombucha, bottled soda, iced teas, and sparkling water.  

Music All Day:

10:30am to 12:30pm: Opening Harvest Fest for us, local favorites Bob & Dee.
12:45pm to 2:45pm: Enjoying Evan Meulemans tunes at Harvest Fest has become a great tradition.
3:00pm to 5:00pm: Keuka Whalers - Sea shanties, Americana, world music, & harpoons.

Tours:

The ever-popular tours will reflect on 40 Years of Hunt Country - Past, present, & future.  Check back in a week or so for more details, descriptions, and schedules.  

Other Activities:

1pm to 3pm: 
Wild Wings, Inc.: Bird of Prey Facility & Nature Center bringing educators and raptors to Hunt Country. 

All Day:
Ax Throwing with renaissance man DJ Kitzel, all day long.
Trolley Ride History Tours: Our replica trolley towed by tractor into the vineyard for scenic tours.  
Grape Stomping will be back!!!  
Pick Your Own Grapes: We'll provide the picking bags.

Harvest Day happens rain or shine. Barn seating, porch seating, and tables about the vineyard grounds will be available, as well as tent seating during inclement weather.

COVID-19:
We greatly appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we figure out the best ways to keep you and our staff safe, and prevent another surge of COVID-19 infections.

Visiting the winery means you are aware of the current COVID-19 pandemic and understand the risks associated with visiting public places and won’t hold Hunt Country liable in the event you become infected with the virus. You also understand and will follow the best practices laid out by the CDC and NYSDOH, as well as the practice and directions provided by Hunt Country. Please postpone your visit to the winery if you are or have been exposed to persons who are ill, showing symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks.

Masks: Per guidance from the CDC and NYSDOH, people who are fully-vaccinated no longer need to wear masks. However, people who are not yet fully-vaccinated should continue to wear masks indoors to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We encourage any person who prefers to wear a mask to do so.

Enjoy a family friendly, day-long celebration of the harvest in the Finger Lakes! Experience a fun-filled day featuring a kids zone fully equipped with bounce houses, a puppet show,face painting, pumpkin decorating contest, balloon animals, games and a karate demonstration from Four Dragons Martial Arts.

The festival showcases over forty craft and food vendors and an incredible line up of live demonstrations.

The Festival concludes with a spectacular fireworks display cascading over the 156-foot Shequaga Falls located in the center of the Village of Montour Falls’ historic district, the Glorious “T”.

Fall Festival & Agricultural Fair

Celebrate the bountiful Western NY harvest as the Museum shines in its finest fall colors! Enjoy livestock and cooking demonstrations, entertainment for the whole family, and browsing for unique finds at the market in the tradition of the country fairs of days gone by. Join us Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3, from 10 am-4 pm.
