It's that time of year again! Harvest is coming to an end and the wines are finding a place in the cellar as we reflect and celebrate how fortunate we are for the bounty that we have. We invite you to join us at Hosmer Winery for a taste of the good life with samples of local food and handcrafted goods.

We will be selling Hosmer wine by the glass and serving delectable hors-d'oeuvres to enjoy with a live performance from Donna Colton (so get ready to dance). This event is free of charge!!

Nouveau Celebration 2022

Join us in celebrating the first wine of the 2022 harvest! Enjoy a glass of our Nouveau wine and hearty seasonal hors d’oeuvres from Veraisons, outdoors among the fall foliage. We'll have live music throughout the afternoon as well.

Our annual Nouveau celebration began in 1977, the year we were established, as a way of celebrating our first harvest and we’ve continued the tradition every year since over our 40+ year history.

Each year, our Nouveau wine undergoes a quick primary fermentation before being racked and put in a wooden cask. The resulting wine is intensely fresh and fruity. We invite you to join us for a taste of our 2022 Nouveau wine straight from the cask!

Farm Sanctuary's Celebration for the Turkeys

For the first time since 2019, we are back in person with Farm Sanctuary’s beloved annual event: Celebration for the Turkeys! This annual event is well-loved for its inspiring speakers, time spent at Farm Sanctuary, and experiences of community and connection with fellow guests and farm animals.

Join us for this year’s event on November 5 as we express gratitude for the animals who call Farm Sanctuary home and celebrate the powerful ways we can grow and come together as a community. Whether you will be a returning regular to Celebration for the Turkeys, or visiting for the first time, this is a great opportunity to experience Farm Sanctuary as we work to provide refuge for animals exploited by factory farms and promote a more just, compassionate, and sustainable food system. “Silent Movies in our Parks”

Following upon Ithaca's "Silent Movie Month" in October, Walk in the Park presents this encore episode from 2019.

In 1915, Leo and Ted Wharton established a movie studio at Renwick Park (now Stewart Park) at the south end of Cayuga Lake in Ithaca, NY. For several years they made numerous silent movies and weekly serials for national distribution using the town and area gorges. In this episode of Walk in the Park (219), we take a look at some of the dramatic ways they used our rugged gorges to simulate western or Alaskan movie settings. The Wharton Studio Museum project seeks to create a museum in one of the old studio buildings at Stewart Park.

Walk in the Park is a bi-weekly half hour public access television series produced in Ithaca NY by Owl Gorge Productions, a partner business in the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance.

Film Screening - This Is Not A War Story

THIS IS NOT A WAR STORY tracks a ragtag group of combat veterans in New York whose anti-war art, poetry and papermaking keep them together, despite the specter of their friend’s suicide and the ever-crystalizing fact that healing from war is sometimes an impossible mission. Produced by Acoustic Pictures, executive producer Rosario Dawson, directed by Talia Lugacy.

Meet the filmmaker and veterans involved in the film. Following the screening, TCFA will host a panel discussion to talk to the audience and answer questions about their experiences and continuing projects.

This hybrid narrative film features a supporting cast of Iraq and Vietnam veterans, as well as their original artwork, poetry, and music - and was produced over three years as an ongoing collaboration with a thriving community of veteran artists and papermakers. Through the process of shredding uniforms, writing poems, exposing their art to the public and telling stories in confidence within their group, the veterans in THIS IS NOT A WAR STORY find a way to give their suffering voice and clarity.

SYNOPSIS

Timothy Reyes (DANNY RAMIREZ) hustles through the NYC subway system. Oblivious passers-by don’t notice he is popping pills, fading, killing himself. Discovered dead on an empty train, no one knows him to be a combat veteran. His mentor, Will LaRue (SAM ADEGOKE) blames himself and wrestles with the guilt, and a resurgence of his own demons from war. His refuge: a multi-generational community of artist veterans, who make handmade paper out of military uniforms. Shredding them, pulverizing them - uniforms are reconstituted into paper, onto which the veterans express their rage, humor, memories, and hopes, in the form of art and poetry. Into this community arrives Isabelle (TALIA LUGACY) - a veteran recently returned home, only to find home more alienating and hostile than being at war. Her family and estranged mother (FRANCES FISHER) can’t fathom or accept her identity as a Marine. Will and Isabelle forge a tenuous alliance in this community of mostly white male veterans, and Isabelle’s increasing fixation on Will as some kind of savior or teacher digs directly against his private struggle to accept Timothy’s suicide and intensifies his self-blame for failing to save him. The confrontations and the bond between Will and Isabelle propel them into a deeper questioning of themselves, and into what it means, finally, to want to live.

The laughs are coming to Auburn when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at Prison City Brewery North Street Farm on Thursday, Nov. 17. Shirelle Kinder is headlining the show and Duane Wilt, Freddy DoLess and host Mike Peters will be there, too.

Tickets are $10 and available online and at the door. Seating at the North Street Farm location begins at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7. A full dinner menu is available.

About the comedians:

Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast.

Freddy DoLess is a comedian in Rochester. New to Western New York, he's got a TV show called SlapFreddy set to come out in January.

Shirelle “Gator” Kinder has graced the Rochester comedy scene with her special brand of anecdotal humor since April. A finalist in the 2018, 2019 and 2021 Funniest Person in Rochester competitions, Gator entertains audiences with active storytelling, her complete and utter shamelessness, as well as free advice on one-upping cat-callers and unconventional funeral planning.
