Finger Lakes Events Calendar

Festivals, Happy Hour, Live Music, Theatre, and More!

It doesn’t matter what your interests are or who you’re in the Finger Lakes with, you can always find a great event to enrich your time in the region with those you care about.

Events take place all year round in the Finger Lakes region. From lakeside (and on the lake) events in the summer to harvest activities in the fall, snowmobiling or snowshoeing in the winter, and festivals in the springtime! Step inside a glassmaker’s studio to blow your own glass, stroll Main Street on a food tour, or gather for live music and theater performances. Browse the list of Finger Lakes events below or search the specific dates you will be visiting to see everything going on in the region.

Great Events that Happen Every Year

Below, you will find dozens of great events happening throughout the year with many of them happening annually. If you have memories of favorite annual Finger Lakes events from childhood such as cardboard boat regattas, hot air balloon festivals, cheese, apple or pumpkin festivals, to name a few, it’s likely that event that still takes place or, has likely improved your enjoyment. If you see a special event that piques your interest but can’t make it, click on the event anyway, it might be coming back next year!

Events Added Daily

Make sure to check back frequently to see if any other great events have been added. Events are added daily by businesses from every sector and interest so if there is nothing that sparks your interest now, there very well could be soon!

Ithaca Farmers Market: Opens for Outdoor Season Sat April 4th and Every Saturday

Ithaca Farmers Market: Opens for Outdoor season as an
essential grocery outlet with new COVID-19 hours and rules

Winter market is over - which means this Saturday, April 4th, is the traditional “grand
opening” date for the Ithaca Farmers Market outdoor season. While this year has been
anything but ordinary so far, the Ithaca community can still count on the market for their
Saturday groceries.

The market is scheduled to run on Saturdays in April at the Steamboat Landing pavilion,
with shortened hours of 9am-1pm. The pavilion has 88 booths, but this month the
vendor capacity will be capped at 40 - with vendors spaced out in every other booth.
The shorter hours and the empty booths will allow more room for customers to navigate
the shopping area with the suggested 6 feet distance between patrons.

Under Governor Cuomo’s "New York State on PAUSE" executive order, farmers
markets are listed as essential businesses. With permission from Tompkins County
Health Department, IFM has chosen to stay open to provide safe access to healthy food
for the Ithaca community. The market has recently installed touchless paper towel
dispensers in bathrooms for a safer experience, as well as hand sanitizer stations
around the building. They have also outlined on their website the “new guidelines” of
market - including only sending one person per household, and not touching goods
before purchase.

Cortland Repertory Theatre's Trivia Nights are going VIRTUAL!

Do you miss life outside of your home? Be social, be smart, and join us on Zoom for an online version of CRT's well-loved Trivia Night!

It's a brave new world out there, and it's about to get smarter!

CRT's normal Trivia Nights are a fundraiser for CRT's Youth Programs. Played in teams of 4, we answer questions, participate in visual and music rounds, and engage in healthy brainy competition with our friends and neighbors.

And we see NO REASON to stop that now!

On Thursday, April 16th at 7pm, join us on Zoom for an online Trivia Event!

There are some adjustments that need to be made to make it work. Here are the details—don’t be afraid. You’re smart enough for Trivia—you can conquer the digital world!

1.      We will be asking and answering trivia questions, working in teams, having a visual and music round—all of the things that you love. But we will be participating for the love of trivia, not for the (undeliverable!) prizes. As a result, we will not be charging an admittance fee for this event. Free Trivia Night!

If you would like to donate what you door fee would have been anyway ($5) because you know these events are a fundraiser for CRTYP and art programs are struggling now, you can visit PayPal and send your donation to Production@cortlandrep.org. Not necessary! But always appreciated. ?

2.      We will be holding the live trivia event on Zoom! If you haven’t used it yet, Zoom is a virtual meeting room that uses your computer’s camera and microphone to see and hear you and put you in a “room” where you can see and hear others.

When you notify me that you will be attending, I will send you the invitation link to participate. You do NOT need to have a Zoom account to participate! But you will need to pre-register for the event to keep things safe and tidy—and the invitation I send you will detail how to do it. It’s easy!

3.      You will need to tell me ahead of time that you will be attending so that I can send you the invitation and get things organized. If you are planning to attend, please send an email to CRTTrivia@gmail.com. The email should include your name (and anyone else in your home who might be playing on your team of 4 players), and the names of the other people who will be playing on your team. Each COMPUTER that will be signed into Zoom to play will need its own invitation, so each computer needs to send an email.

a.      For example, Jane and Jack want to be on a team with Linda and Arnold. Jane and Jack live in one house and will be sitting next to one another on the couch, using one computer. Jane and Jack should send me one email that details that they will be playing and that they would like to be grouped on a team with Linda and Arnold. I will email an invitation to Jane/Jack’s email address. Linda and Arnold, however, do not live together and will be playing from different computers. Linda and Arnold each need to send me an email for an invitation, and their emails both should detail that they will be playing with Jane and Jack.

4.      I will be preassigning you on your teams into what Zoom calls “Breakout Rooms.” So we’ll all meet together in the main room. For the regular rounds, I will send you all into your team breakout rooms and then send you a file with the trivia questions on it, giving you 10 minutes to complete the questions. I’ll then bring you back to the main room, and we’ll go over the answers.

IMPORTANT: Because I am one human quarantined here (my hubby will be on child duty!), I will be using a Self-Grading honor system for this trivia night! At the end of each round, your team will tell me how many points you earned and I will put it on the scoreboard. Remember, this is all in fun! No prizes, so self-grading can work for this event. Competitive language and team ribbing still allowed. ? For the visual and music rounds, you will stay in the main room with me to hear/see all of the questions and then will retire to your breakout rooms to discuss with your teams. It would be in your best interest to have paper/writing utensils available for this Trivia Event. But the drinks are free (in your fridge!)

I hope that gives us enough detail about how this special Trivia event will work! I can host up to 50 teams in my breakout rooms, so invite your friends to play! We are all looking to be social and to engage right now. The more the merrier!

Remember, to play, email CRTTrivia@gmail.com. For general questions, you can email Kris (me!) at CRTProgramManager@gmail.com.

Virtual Build-A-Book Club

Virtual Build-A-Book Club (For ages 7-17)
Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, April 21st at 4 pm.
Do you have legos, cardboard, paper or other building supplies at home? You get the idea. We want you to be creative and use whatever materials you have at home to design and build a creative creation to share with others. It can be as big or small as you wish.

First Challenge: Think of a book that you enjoy and build or make something based on that book.

We will spend the beginning of our meeting having attendees showcase what they have built (if you have the book that inspired your creation that would be wonderful).

Next, we will read a story that will inspire everyone to build something for our next meeting.

Spread the word and start building your creative constructions!

Email staff@aurorafreelibrary.org for the link to our meeting by Tuesday, April 21st at 3 pm.
Happy building!

with a 24-hour online auction

The Annual Fundraiser to support your performing arts center!

Saturday, April 25, 2020 at ClemensCenter.org

Red Carpet Welcome: 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Join us online for some fun and support the Clemens Center at the same time!

We are unable to have our annual Gala at the venue right now*, but we can still enjoy a virtual red carpet, great local entertainment, gather new food and beverage recipes to enjoy at home, and participate in a 24-hour online auction of items generously donated from local businesses.

The Clemens Center needs your help more than ever. As you know, due to the unprecedented call from the Governor to shelter at home, we had to close our doors to mass gatherings on March 12. This meant the cancellation or postponement of all programming for the foreseeable future, and reducing our workforce in the building to zero. In order to keep our employees securely in their homes, fed, and insured, we have kept their wages at 100% through this crisis. But with no income currently coming in the door, we need your assistance to maintain our 18 employees, and keep up with payments to suppliers and utilities. Your support now will allow us to come back stronger than ever once the ban on public gatherings is lifted.

We look forward to your participation on Saturday, April 25, from 6pm to 9pm! The online auction begins at 6pm and runs for 24 hours.

Join us at ClemensCenter.org!

*Don’t worry, your tickets purchased for the in-person Gala will be honored for the tentative reschedule date of Saturday, August 29, 2020.

David Tobin & Maria DeMitchell are doing a reading of Harold Pinter's "The Lover" live from their home. This play by the Nobel Prize-winning British playwright still resonates today, especially in this time of quarantine, as couples navigate prolonged domesticity. Maria & David both starred in APT's 2018-19 season production of Harold Pinter's "Betrayal," which was directed by the founder of Cayuga Community College's award-winning theater department, Daniel Labeille. "Betrayal" was an audience favorite at APT. Please note that "The Lover" deals with adult content, PG-13.
