Events take place all year round in the Finger Lakes region. From lakeside (and on the lake) events in the summer to harvest activities in the fall, snowmobiling or snowshoeing in the winter, and festivals in the springtime! Step inside a glassmaker’s studio to blow your own glass, stroll Main Street on a food tour, or gather for live music and theater performances. Browse the list of Finger Lakes events below or search the specific dates you will be visiting to see everything going on in the region.

Great Events that Happen Every Year

Below, you will find dozens of great events happening throughout the year with many of them happening annually. If you have memories of favorite annual Finger Lakes events from childhood such as cardboard boat regattas, hot air balloon festivals, cheese, apple or pumpkin festivals, to name a few, it’s likely that event that still takes place or, has likely improved your enjoyment. If you see a special event that piques your interest but can’t make it, click on the event anyway, it might be coming back next year!

The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons at George Eastman Museum

For more than 80 years, Warner Bros. animation has been bringing joy to all ages. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies in particular gave us some of the most iconic animated characters—Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, and more.

Animation is a complex process: from concept to sketching, drawing, and coloring, all before filming even begins. Yet, we usually only ever see the finished product. In The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons, take a peek behind the scenes at sketches, model sheets, paintings, and animation cels that went into creating the famous films from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

The beginnings of animation—before Warner Bros. and even before film—is also explored through a selection of objects from the museum’s collection. In addition to the original artifacts in the galleries, the exhibition includes 15 Warner Bros. animated shorts, played on a loop in the Curtis Theatre during museum hours.

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.

THE PARAGON RAGTIME ORCHESTRA is the world’s only year-round, professional ensemble specializing in the authentic recreation of “America’s Original Music” – the sounds of early theater, “silent” cinema, and vintage dance.  Conductor Rick Benjamin has built a career upon the discovery and performance of American music from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. He is the founder and director of the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, which uses his extraordinary 20,000-title collection of antique theater and dance orchestra music (c. 1830-1930) as the basis of its repertoire.

Joining the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra for the July 3 concert is Resident Theater Organist DAVID PECKHAM. A gentleman of multiple musical talents, David has been touring nationally and internationally as a theatre organist since 1980 and has performed at many of the finest theatre organs worldwide.

ABBY PAYNE | JULY 4

Like one of her biggest creative influences (Bjork), Abby Payne seems to make her own little world with every song, every album, and every music video.  Sometimes, as with her new concept album, The Gunfighter Meets His Match (which is forthcoming this year along with a short story of the same title, and is inspired by Louis L’Amour’s frontier stories), this is an explicitly aesthetic representation of content.  But just as often, Payne’s creation of a world entails nothing more—and nothing less—than a total, authentic commitment to the peculiar and magical universe that is a great song.  And her songs are great: reminiscent of Fiona Apple, they feature interesting and sometimes intricate orchestration, but never at the expense of the pure and visceral immediacy of unaffected lyrics, a smoky, warm voice, and a refreshing earnestness that harkens back to the era of the Great American Songbook.

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.

Friday Night Deck Party featuring Joan Caddell and the Midnight Choir
Friday Night Deck Party at Buttonwood Grove

Friday Night Deck Party at Buttonwood Grove featuring Joan Caddell and the Midnight Choir - Staten Island's hottest band returns to the Finger Lakes!   Kick off your weekend and kick up your heels with the areas hottest bands, house-made BBQ, award winning wine, beer, and hard cider.  Our multi-level deck and expansive lawn is the place to be every Friday night, as we host some of the best talent in Central New York on our outdoor stage overlooking the vineyards and Cayuga Lake.  Joan Caddell & The Midnight Choir straddle the lines between several genres of music — unsurprising given that their front woman is equally comfortable tapping into both her right and left brain. Attorney by day, rock goddess by night, Joan knows a thing or two about breaking borders and bridging boundaries. Her band embodies a unique style best described as Americana pop rock with a little country on the side.  The original tunes and cover songs of Joan Caddell & The Midnight Choir range far and wide, but a common thread binds them all — a heartfelt invitation and a rousing call come together to make each performance a communal experience. The band's infectious energy and passionate playing style move audiences from the inside out, making honorary band members out of everyone by a show's end.  Dance the night away under the starry summer skies and experience the best of the Finger Lakes at Buttonwood Grove!  BBQ starts at 6:00, music 7:00 - 10:00.  FREE ADMISSION.  See our website for a full list of performers - www.buttonwoodgrove.com  5986 State Route 89, Romulus.  607-869-9760

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.

IT’S MY PARTY! | JULY 25 (RAIN DATE: JULY 29)

We believe there truly is magic in a young girl’s heart. And we think the music that captures it best is the sound of the 1960s girls groups! The idea for our group was born in 1984 when record store owner Ron Stein put The Chiffons’ Greatest Hits into the hands of a young rock ’n‘ roll enthusiast named John Giotto. (John is our producer and our drummer.) Thanks to Ron’s musical mentoring, John was inspired with a vision that would last for over 30 years! Today, we’re proud to say IT’S MY PARTY! is a 1960s vintage experience, complete with a 14-piece orchestra and original songs written especially for us! Our tight harmonies, vintage costumes, and retro choreography are all set to the highest standards of the 1960s girl groups. When we’re on stage singing our hearts out, we’re the closest thing to an authentic 1960s girl group you’ll find today!

No matter how you first experienced the classic animations—in the theater, at home on 8mm film or VHS, on television, or even online—this fascinating exhibition will delight with the laughs and lunacy of Warner Bros. cartoons.
