Finger Lakes Events Calendar

Festivals, Happy Hour, Live Music, Theatre, and More!

It doesn’t matter what your interests are or who you’re in the Finger Lakes with, you can always find a great event to enrich your time in the region with those you care about.

Events take place all year round in the Finger Lakes region. From lakeside (and on the lake) events in the summer to harvest activities in the fall, snowmobiling or snowshoeing in the winter, and festivals in the springtime! Step inside a glassmaker’s studio to blow your own glass, stroll Main Street on a food tour, or gather for live music and theater performances. Browse the list of Finger Lakes events below or search the specific dates you will be visiting to see everything going on in the region.

Great Events that Happen Every Year

Below, you will find dozens of great events happening throughout the year with many of them happening annually. If you have memories of favorite annual Finger Lakes events from childhood such as cardboard boat regattas, hot air balloon festivals, cheese, apple or pumpkin festivals, to name a few, it’s likely that event that still takes place or, has likely improved your enjoyment. If you see a special event that piques your interest but can’t make it, click on the event anyway, it might be coming back next year!

Events Added Daily

Make sure to check back frequently to see if any other great events have been added. Events are added daily by businesses from every sector and interest so if there is nothing that sparks your interest now, there very well could be soon!

Schweinfurth Art Center with art installation on building
Threads of Light

Drive or walk by the Schweinfurth Art Center after dusk to see the installation

The Schweinfurth Art Center is participating in the International Day of Light with a new light installation that will be projected onto the second-floor windows of the art center. The installation will be visible 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night and can easily be seen in front of the center, located at 205 Genesee Street, Auburn.

The exhibit, titled “Threads of Light,” is a collaboration between Skaneateles artist Lorne Covington and contemporary textile artist Gerri Spilka. Covington, who creates interactive artwork and installations as Noirflux, manipulated images of Spilka’s large-scale art quilts by adding movement. The resulting work will be a changing textile of pattern and light.

The exhibition is part of “Light Windows,” a monthlong, world-wide exhibition by artists at home and art venues closed by the COVID-19 pandemic that was organized by The HoloCenter — Center for the Holographic Arts based in New York City. The HoloCenter planned “Light Windows” as an exhibition for neighbors, a thank you to essential workers, and a tribute to those who we have lost to COVID-19.

We at the arts center would like to give you an opportunity to express & share with others what you are going through now, what you are feeling about this time, and what your thoughts are on re-imagining life after the pandemic.  And so we’ve decided to go forward with an art show, opening on June 27, that we’re calling  --- Pandemic.  We’re hoping that you can use this time at home as an opportunity to capture your experience whether by a photograph, sculpture, drawing,  painting, poem or short story ….You choose the medium.

We plan to have the art show the end of June.  If by some chance we are actually open then, we’ll have it as a show at the Arts Center. But our plan now is to do a virtual show – where we post pictures of everyone’s work on-line. To do this you just need to  take a picture of your artwork, email it to us and we’ll put it in our virtual show on June 27. The show will run online for 2 weeks for all to see. We will plan to have a “regular” show whenever we do open,  at that time you can bring in your actual artwork for display.

The installation will be visible 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night and can easily be seen in front of the center, located at 205 Genesee Street, Auburn.
