Finger Lakes Events Calendar

Festivals, Happy Hour, Live Music, Theatre, and More!

It doesn’t matter what your interests are or who you’re in the Finger Lakes with, you can always find a great event to enrich your time in the region with those you care about.

Events take place all year round in the Finger Lakes region. From lakeside (and on the lake) events in the summer to harvest activities in the fall, snowmobiling or snowshoeing in the winter, and festivals in the springtime! Step inside a glassmaker’s studio to blow your own glass, stroll Main Street on a food tour, or gather for live music and theater performances. Browse the list of Finger Lakes events below or search the specific dates you will be visiting to see everything going on in the region.

Great Events that Happen Every Year

Below, you will find dozens of great events happening throughout the year with many of them happening annually. If you have memories of favorite annual Finger Lakes events from childhood such as cardboard boat regattas, hot air balloon festivals, cheese, apple or pumpkin festivals, to name a few, it’s likely that event that still takes place or, has likely improved your enjoyment. If you see a special event that piques your interest but can’t make it, click on the event anyway, it might be coming back next year!

Events Added Daily

Make sure to check back frequently to see if any other great events have been added. Events are added daily by businesses from every sector and interest so if there is nothing that sparks your interest now, there very well could be soon!

The Hero

BVT and the Naples Historical Society are teaming up to present a bit of Naples' theatrical history with a staged reading of The Hero, a drama written in 1921 by Naples' born playwright/actor Gilbert Emery. The play, which played on Broadway in 1921 and was featured in an anthology of The Best Plays of 1920-21, concerns family tensions in the aftermath of the first world war. After a recent New York revival of the play, the New York times called Emery's script "remarkably nuanced, filled with gray areas and ambiguities." Local actors from the community will perform the reading, and the historical society will also add details and information about playwright Emery and the historical context of the play and its first production. (Not recommended for young children)

Friends From Afar Wine Pack & Virtual Tasting with Heart & Hands

In collaboration with our "Friends from Afar" at Heart & Hands Wine Company in the Finger Lakes, NY, we are EACH offering two fresh Spring wines to be virtually tasted LIVE together on Friday, May 15th at 5pm. Join our own Kirsty Harmon along with Susan and Tom Higgins as they discuss vineyard, winemaking, and wine details amongst friends on Instagram Live. Since four bottles of wine may be too many to open at once, we will save the video to watch at a later date or reference again at another time.

Our selection includes one bottle each of the '19 Gruner Veltliner and '19 Rosé.

The two pack from Heart & Hands (shipped by and billed separately from them) includes one bottle each of '19 An Croí Dry Rosé and '18 Verve Chardonnay. Copy and paste this link to order. https://tinyurl.com/ydcbk6oa

Since this event crosses different state lines, each two pack needs to be purchased separately from each winery.

To ensure you have all four wines for showtime, please order by noon on Monday, May 11.

Shipping is not included in our bundle price, but we do offer free shipping over $50.

Opening Day for the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum’s 36th season!

Doc Possum LIVE online with Market Street Social
Radisson Hotel Corning Hosting Virtual Concert

Although still closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, Radisson Hotel Corning’s popular outdoor venue, Market Street Social, is proud to present a free virtual concert this Saturday, May 16th.   From 6 pm to 8 pm, Corning’s own Doc Cavallaro, A.K.A. Doc Possum, will continue to entertain during the time of social distancing with his online concert shown via Facebook Live.  Fans of Doc as well as fans of Market Street Social LIVE who miss the weekly shows are encouraged to join the event, crank the speakers, and enjoy Doc’s hits along with a chance at winning prizes.

Always a Market Street Social LIVE favorite, Doc will be performing his catalog of “songs you will remember and ones you will never forget” – featuring music from the artists that have inspired him over the years along with a few favorite Possum tunes thrown in along the way.   The registered BMI artist has been performing professionally for over 25 years in various formats including original music which has ranged from grunge rock to family friendly tunes.  Most recently, Doc has found success performing songs from the artists that have inspired him including but not limited to Elvis, The Beatles, and Tom Petty.

Several fans will leave the concert with more than one good sounding reason to come back once Market Street Social actually reopens, as they’ll be the recipients of one of the following prizes the venue will raffle off on Facebook throughout the night:

-Pair of tickets for free appetizers

-Pair of tickets for free drinks

-Bottle of local Finger Lakes wine

-A reserved table (for 4) in front of Doc when he performs next at Market Street Social LIVE

-A free overnight stay in a suite at Radisson Hotel Corning

When its finally green lit to reopen, Market Street Social will once again bring the Gaffer District some of the hottest local bands in the Finger Lakes region as well as locally-inspired cuisine and libations.  An announcement will be made with regard to the venue’s reopening plans and entertainment schedule as soon as possible.  In the meantime, fans can visit the hotel’s Facebook page for other news and virtual events.

THE HANGAR THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH Virtual Event Saturday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

ITHACA, NY- The Hangar Theatre Company opens its 46th summer season (and first ever virtual season), with a reading of The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder on Saturday, May 23rd. The cast consists of over 20 artists who live in the Ithaca area, or who have appeared in a Hangar Mainstage production. The Skin of Our Teeth is a one-time, live virtual performance that viewers can enjoy from their homes.

Thornton Wilder's 1942 play The Skin of Our Teeth is a wildly theatrical piece about the history of mankind told through the story of one family, the Antrobuses. While living a seemingly normal life in early-20th century New Jersey, the Antrobuses narrowly escape the catastrophic events of an Ice Age, a Great Flood, and finally, a devastating war. Meet George and Maggie Antrobus (married only 5,000 years); their two children, Gladys and Henry (perfect in every way!); and their maid, Sabina (the ageless vamp) as they overcome ice, flood, and war — by the skin of their teeth. The cast also includes dinosaurs, a fortune teller, Moses, Plato, and a corp of volunteer ushers.

Completed by Wilder on December 7, 1941, The Skin of Our Teeth won the 1943 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Since then, each generation has found what the New Yorker called an “optimistic catastrophe” a source of comfort and amusement during unsettling times.

The director (Hangar Theatre’s Artistic Director), Michael Barakiva, conceived the Hangar production of The Skin of Our Teeth with the community in mind. “This is a play about how our species survives times of extraordinary change. The word relevant comes to mind.” He was also excited to share the platform of the experience with the Hangar audiences. “This virtual format allows us to continue serving the community and carrying out our mission in a responsible and safe way.” Barakiva states, “these virtual offerings are all live, streaming events created collaboratively by individual artists interacting virtually from their homes. We look forward to this new platform both artistically, and we hope to expand our audiences globally.”

Shelter in Space

Postcards from Beyond! Zoe from Cornell SPIF will host a Zoom lecture on Tuesday, May 26th from 7-8 pm.

For over 50 years we’ve been sending cameras into space, traveling aboard robotic spacecraft and voyaging far beyond the current reach of human exploration. In addition to the wealth of scientific discoveries these pictures have sparked, there is the sheer joy their beauty brings to all who see them, and what they say about our desire to venture into the unknown. Join us for a journey through the decades to see how far we’ve come in our quest to explore the Solar System through our robotic eyes.

Both Ends of the Rainbow and The Three Lakes Sampler 2020 Online

Our annual student exhibition has moved online! The Schweinfurth Art Center loves student art, and we hated having to cancel our annual exhibition of student art, Both Ends of the Rainbow. So we decided to create videos of student art that would have been in the show and share them with you on our website. Our first video features art by students at Owasco Elementary School in the Auburn City School District. Look for more videos in the coming weeks!

Sips & Succulents: A Breast Cancer Benefit

Unfortunately, many of us know someone who’s been affected by breast cancer, so we’ve teamed up with the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund to bring you a fun event to help show our support. A portion of each ticket sale will be presented to their fund, which makes drinking wine all that much sweeter. Now that I’ve got your attention, let’s discuss the event itself: Succulents! They’re all the rage right now and even those with a “black thumb” are able to care for and enjoy these little cuties, so join us and travel the trail while you collect a different potted succulent at each winery you visit.

Saturday 10-5pm, ALL 14 wineries are participating.
