Aurora Free Library is Presenting A Teen/Adult Reading and Magic Show

Oct 20th, 2022

Aurora Free Library will host a professional reading magic show, open to the community for teens and adults, on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 7:00 PM, at the Aurora Free Library, located at 370 Main St Aurora, NY 13026.

The show, titled “Horror In The Library,” is being used as part of the library’s efforts to encourage young adults to visit the library more.

The show, presented by international entertainer/educator Cris Johnson, will feature spooky subject matter, creepy and gruesome magic, mind reading, audience participation, and more. The show is intended for ages 11 on up as well as any thrill-seeking adults.

“This particular program is something different – it was designed to promote more reading among young adults and teens,” Director Sandy Groth explains. “The show will feature macabre magic tricks that highlight the works of Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker, Stephen King, and many more. It’s part Criss Angel, part Derren Brown, and is spine-tingling fun!”

Why did Cris Johnson go to the trouble of creating an entire show designed simply to get young adults and teens to read more?

“I’ve been creating and presenting themed shows to libraries and schools all across North America for nearly 20 years and it’s a passion of mine,” Cris explains. “With budget cuts increasing all the time, we as a community really need to support our local libraries, encourage teens as well as adults to read more, watch less TV, and protect our children’s future.”

Cris Johnson’s “Horror In The Library” will be presented on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Aurora Free Library, located at 370 Main St Aurora, NY 13026 and is intended for teens and adults. Children below the age of 11 are not encouraged to attend because of the subject matter. Admission is free.
