February 1, 2013, Aurora, NY – Two of Cayuga County’s finest local food proponents have been nominated to receive a “Finger Lakes Foodie Award” as part of the Finger Lakes Food Revolution. The Revolution takes Finger Lakes cuisine and farm-to-table dining in New York’s Finger Lakes to the next level by recognizing producers, promoters and lovers of locally –produced foods, wines and dishes from the Finger Lakes Region.
The Aurora Inn has been nominated in the “Best Locavore Restaurant” category for their award-winning American cuisine that takes its cue from the local seasonal bounty.
Bet the Farm Winery’s Traminette has been nominated for “Best Finger Lakes White Wine.” Bet the Farm’s Traminette has consistently won awards since 2007 and owner/winemaker Nancy Tisch is committed to quality and sourcing her grapes locally.
From September to December, locavore food lovers across the Finger Lakes stood up and made their voices heard by attending regional food events and restaurants, and nominating the local food and beverages that they felt best represented Finger Lakes cuisine. Now the top two nominees in each category are profiled on www.fingerlakesfood revolution.com. The nominees from each category will square off in one more round of voting between January 30 and February 25. Whichever nominee receives the most votes from the foodie public will receive a Finger Lakes Foodie Award on March 18 at Finger Lakes Community College.
Please help spread the word and go to the Foodie Awards web site, fingerlakesfoodrevolution.com and vote for Bet the Farm’s Traminette in the “Best Finger Lakes Wine” category and the Aurora Inn as the “Best Locavore Restaurant.” You can vote up to 10 times daily.
