Known as “Long Lake,” Canadice Lake is 3 miles long, .3 miles wide, and has a maximum depth of 95 feet. Its elevation is 1,096 feet, making it the highest and smallest of the Finger Lakes. It has been a water reservoir for the City of Rochester since 1876. Because of this, there is no development permitted along the shoreline. Boats are limited to 17 feet in length and a maximum of 10 horse power engine power, which makes Canadice Lake an ideal spot for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. However, swimming is not allowed. A favorite spot for visitors and locals alike is Canadice Lake Outfitters, where one can be outfitted in all the gear you need from kayaks and canoes to life jackets and dry bags. They offer transport to the access trail so it's easy to get the boats to the lake, along with canoe, kayak, stand-up paddleboard and bike rentals.
