CB Brewing Company Brews 1813 BicentenniALE for the Town of Mendon's Historic 200 Year Celebration

Apr 22nd, 2013

Honeoye Falls, NY - The Town of Mendon has much to be proud of over the past 200 years, and now the town residents can boast they have their very own beer. CB Brewing Company, located in Honeoye Falls, NY, a hamlet of Mendon, has brewed Town of Mendon 1813 BicentenniALE for the town’s 200 year celebration.

The town has a rich agrarian history including hop farming. Before Prohibition, hop growing predominated in the WNY area and almost every farm had a few acres of hops that yielded an average of one thousand pounds to the acre. Cluster hops were the primary hop varietal grown in the Town of Mendon. Hop farming was quite lucrative for farmers until the blight threatened plants in the early 1900s and then Prohibition put the final nail in the coffin.

With a respectful nod to the town’s rich hop history, CB Brewing Company chose to brew Town of Mendon 1813 BicentenniALE with hops that were once indigenous to the area or are descendants of indigenous varietals. The beer is brewed with Pilsner and Cara Munich malts and an impressive showcase of indigenous hops including Cluster, Horizon and Centennial. The finished product is a golden American Pale Ale that is smooth and refreshing.

Town of Mendon 1813 BicentenniALE will be available in draught and 22oz bottles. Distribution will be limited to bars, restaurants and retail grocery and convenient store chains in Honeoye Falls and Mendon. The beer will also be available at CB Brewing Company, located at 300 Village Square Blvd., Rochester, NY 14472.
