Corning's Gaffer District Announces Street Closings for 2019 GlassFest10

Corning, NY—Corning’s Gaffer District and Chemung Canal Trust Company is pleased to present the tenth annual GlassFest 10, May 23-26, 2019. A four-day celebration of glass and the fire arts in America’s Crystal City.

In preparation for the 2019 GlassFest event, the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

Friday, May 24 from 3 pm through Saturday, May 25 at 6 AM and Saturday, May 25 at 7 PM until 11 PM

  • Tioga Avenue from the Parking Garage to the entrance of the Bus Stop

Friday, May 24 from 5 pm through Sunday, May 26 at 8 pm

  • Aurene Lane from Cedar Street to Tarantelli Lane (open for emergency vehicles and deliveries only)

Saturday, May 25 from 5 AM through Sunday, May 2 at 8 PM:

  • Pine Street from Market Street to Burmese Lane
  • Market Street from Bridge Street to Wall Street
  • Wall Street from Aurene Lane to Burmese Lane
  • Chestnut Street from Aurene Lane to Burmese Lane

Saturday, May 25 from 5 AM to 7 PM and Saturday, May 25 from 11 PM through Sunday, May 26 at 8 PM.

  • Walnut Street from Aurene Lane to Burmese Lane

All streets listed above will remain closed to vehicular traffic overnight for the two days of the event.

Cedar Street (from Tioga Ave to Burmese Lane) is closed 10 am–8 pm Saturday, and will reopen at 8 pm on Saturday, May 25, for overnight travel.  In conjunction with the Cedar St. closure, the left turn lane Westbound Tioga Ave, and the left turn lane Eastbound on Denison Parkway will be closed.  A detour will be at Chemung St.  On Sunday, May 26, Cedar St. (from Tioga Ave to Burmese Lane) will close from 9 AM -5 PM.

In Preparation for the GlassFest 8K race, the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

Saturday, May 25 from 7:40-10 AM

  • Craumer Street
  • Cantigny Street
  • Aisne Street
  • Tioga Ave (Cedar to Steuben)
  • Steuben St. (Roundhouse Ln to Alabaster Ln)
  • Roundhouse Ln
  • Woodview Ave
  • Cohocton Street (E. Market Street Ext. to Roundhouse Ln.)
  • Canisteo St (E. Market Ext to Roundhouse Ln)
  • E. Market Street Ext. (Cohocton to Trolley Ln)
  • Relihan Boulevard (Park Ave to Trolley Ln)
  • Mill Lane  (Relihan Boulevard to E. Second Street Ext.)
  • E. Second St Ext. (Mill Ln to Relihan Blvd)
  • The Brisco Bridge will remain open during this time but will be limited to a single lane either direction.  

For the duration of the event, free parking is available in the Centerway Parking Facility. All vehicles must enter and exit from Walnut Street only, at 3 pm on Friday, May 24 through 5 am Saturday, May 25, and from 7 pm to 11 pm on Saturday, May 25.  All vehicles must enter and exit from Tioga Ave from 5 am to 7 pm on Saturday, May 25 and on Sunday, May 26.

GlassFest kicks off with the glass ribbon cutting ceremony at The Corning Museum of Glass on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at 5:30 pm. The event will take place in conjunction with one of the museum’s 2300˚ events.
