Lauren joined the Damiani team in the fall of 2018 as the assistant winemaker. A true local and a science nerd at heart, Lauren (or Lolo as she’s affectionately known) received a B.S. from Cornell University in Biology with a minor in Nutrition. After graduating, she worked at a variety of jobs including a microbiology lab, Gimme! Coffee, Silverqueen Farm, and in the horticulture department at Cornell. In the spring of 2017 Lauren began her career in the wine industry at Bellwether Wine Cellars which specialized in Riesling and Pinot Noir.
Here at Damiani, Lauren is responsible for all of the day-to-day cellar tasks, including racking, filtering, barrel work, additions, lab work, tasting, blending and more. As a self-confessed neat freak one of her favorite tasks is power washing anything and everything she can! During the 2020 harvest Lauren was given control of a vineyard of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon and was also given the freedom to make her own Riesling and Piquette on the side. Currently she is assisting Phil Arras with the blending of our latest vintage of reds and is thrilled with the quality and selection available to work with! Lauren’s inquisitive and hard-working nature makes her a beloved asset to our team. She says, “There’s constantly something new to learn about winemaking and every year is different which makes the process so exciting."
When Lauren is not power washing anything that can’t run away (look out, Frankie!), and assisting in making the scrumptious wines Damiani has become known for, she goes home to Trumansburg to be with her boyfriend Eric and their three cats, Minka, Milo and Rue. She loves plants and animals and enjoys all outdoor adventures including bicycling, camping, hiking, and kayaking.
