On June 5, 2021, the Downtown Auburn Saturday Market will open for its third season
at the Auburn NY Visitor Center, 25 South Street. The weekly public market is a rain or shine event set
to operate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, excluding July 3, through closing day on September 4.
The market is held in partnership with Taste NY and Cornell Cooperative Extension to connect visitors
and the community with regionally sourced produce and products. Featuring food producers and
artisans, consumers will have access to locally grown, farm-fresh produce; baked goods; syrups and
honey; fine art; apparel; crafts and other specialty items, plus food trucks.
The market will be joined by returning vendors Oma Nonna Heirloom Cookies, Divine Coverings, LLC,
Good Karma Garlic, Irie Jamaican Queen, String by Mandy, Octane Social House, Harriet Tubman
Boosters, and welcome new participants the Friendly Falafel Food Truck, Ambellished, Auburn
Postcard Project, Wildflower Creek Farm, and more. In addition to weekly live entertainment, the
market will include activities and feature new programming this year in partnership with the National
Park Service, including a “Storytelling Bench” series and "Walk in Tubman's Footsteps" tours.
Programming
Yoga on the Lawn with Leanne
On Saturdays June 5 through August 21, the Auburn/Skaneateles YMCA will hold Yoga on the Lawn
at the Equal Rights Heritage Center. The class begins at 8:30 a.m. and is free for Y members; the class
is open to the general public for $90 for the 12-week session or $8 per class for drop-in. Participants
must bring their own mats. Pre-register with the Auburn YMCA-WEIU, 27 William Street, (315) 253-

Storytelling Bench
Starting June 12 through September 4, join a park ranger from the Harriet Tubman National Historical
Park from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Equal Rights Heritage Center's Saturday Markets to hear stories
about Auburn's past and Harriet Tubman's adventures. Look for your ranger at the bench next to the
Harriet Tubman statue.
"Walk in Tubman's Footsteps" Walking Tours
Park rangers will be conducting "Walk in Tubman's Footsteps" tours on Saturdays at 2 p.m. on June 12
and 26 and on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in July and August. Meet your
ranger at the Harriet Tubman statue in the courtyard of the Equal Rights Heritage Center. Come hear
about Tubman's 50 years in freedom in Auburn and the people she knew as friends and compatriots
in the struggle for abolition, women's suffrage, and equal rights. These tours are free, run 90 minutes,
and cover two miles. Some walking surfaces are uneven and elevated. Wear comfortable walking
shoes and bring water. The meeting location may change throughout the summer, so please call

Juneteenth Community Flag Project
Artists and community members are invited to create a flag to celebrate, recognize, or educate about
the contributions of people of color, whether in the community or nationally. The flag can also be
used to comment, raise awareness, or educate about the issues of social justice and current events
related to people of color in our nation. The flags will be displayed at the Schweinfurth Art Center
and the Equal Rights Heritage Center starting August 21. Blank flags will be provided and available for
pick up at the Schweinfurth Art Center, and on June 19 during the Saturday Market at the Equal
Rights Heritage Center. Artists are free to use their own style whether that be painting, printmaking,
collage, fiber, etc. Flags must be completed and returned to the Schweinfurth Art Center by July 31,
2021.

The Downtown Auburn Saturday Market’s mission is to support Cayuga County and surrounding-area
producers; create opportunity for small businesses to thrive; provide fresh food to consumers of all
income levels; educate the public about the impact of buying local; and provide a communitybuilding
experience in a vibrant, family friendly, central location.
New vendors are welcome to participate in the Downtown Auburn Saturday Market. Vendor fees
have been waived for this year; vendors are not required to participate every market date. Contact

application. The Center switched to its summer hours June 1, operating Tuesday through Saturday 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 4 p.m.
The City of Auburn and the Auburn Downtown BID have announced a new downtown parking
initiative offering free two-hour downtown on-street parking through the end of the year. Parking
enforcement will monitor the on-street parking to maintain parking turnover during Monday through
Friday business hours, 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. Tickets will be issued to overtime violators following the
free two hours. All areas of the downtown parking garage on Lincoln Street across from the Equal
Rights Heritage Center/Auburn NY Visitor Center offer free two-hour parking as part of this program.
