Dr. Frank 2013 Rieslings Voted "Best" at New York Wine & Culinary Center Riesling Release Event

May 30th, 2014

Hammondsport, New York – May 29, 2014 – Dr. Frank’s 2013 Rieslings have been released and consumers are raving already about this terrific vintage.  The winery’s 2013 Rieslings made their biggest impression so far at the New York Wine and Culinary Center Riesling Release Event on May 16, 2014.

The event showcased 2013 Rieslings from some of the most prestigious wineries in the Finger Lakes and allowed participants to vote for the best Riesling producer.  Over two hundred attendees were given a chip when they arrived at the event and were asked to leave it with the winery they thought had the best 2013 Rieslings.  Dr. Frank’s received more chips than any other winery at the event.

Both the Dr. Frank 2013 Dry Riesling and 2013 Semi-Dry Riesling were recently released to the public. General Manager, Meaghan Frank , who represented the winery at the event said, “Such an early appreciation for our 2013 Rieslings is both exciting and promising.  At the end of the day, pleasing the consumer is the most important thing.  The Riesling Release Event gave us a chance to give consumers at the event a feel for what our 2013 vintage is all about.”

Amy Slentz, PR and Marketing Manager for the New York Wine and Culinary Center sees a tremendous value in the consumer judging component of this event as well.  Slentz notes that, “Wine lovers in the Finger Lakes have come to anticipate the release of new Rieslings each spring. They are supremely delicious, and come in a wide range of styles.  So, which to choose?  At our Riesling Release Event, we asked each attendee to vote for his or her favorite wine.  This was a task the tasters took seriously, carefully considering each contender, often reviewing their top choices multiple times before casting their chips.  With so many excellent wines being poured and thoroughly enjoyed, the voting was difficult, but the judges proved up to the task.  While it’s wonderful to be recognized by critics and winemaking peers, it is especially gratifying to be awarded by consumers.  Congratulations, Dr. Frank’s, for another round of seriously tasty wines!"

Now in its fourth generation, Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars continues as New York’s most award-winning winery since 1962.  Located on Keuka Lake a few miles north of Hammondsport, Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars has long been associated with the New York wine revolution. Its founder, Dr. Konstantin Frank, helped pioneer the introduction of the European vitis vinifera grapevines in the eastern United States. For his contributions in the American wine industry he was inducted into the Wine Spectator’s “Hall of Fame.”
