Hammondsport, New York – December 31, 2013 – Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars is celebrating a record breaking 94 gold medals this year. The total is more than any other New York State winery won in 2013 and is more than the winery has won in over fifty years of business.
Winning this many gold medals for national and international wine competitions in a given year as a New York State winery is a major feat. “This year’s gold medal total speaks volumes not only about the quality of our wines, but shows that New York State wines can compete as well as west coast wines in major international competitions”, said winery president, Fred Frank. “We’ve really perfected our winemaking in the past fifty years and feel that we have one of the best winemaking teams in the Finger Lakes. We also have some of the oldest vinifera vineyards in the United States. These factors contributed to the remarkable 94 gold medals this year at Dr. Frank’s.” Chateau Frank, the sparkling wine producing affiliate winery of Dr. Frank’s, won 35 gold medals, bringing the total for the two wineries to 129 gold medals.
