Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance Recognizes James Merritt of Glenora Wine Cellars for Excellence in Customer Service for 2019 Year

Dec 11th, 2019

(12/11/2018) Penn Yan, NY – The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance (FLTA) presented the 2019 Excellence in Customer Service award to James Merritt, Wedding and Events Manager of Glenora Wine Cellars during the annual holiday party this past Tuesday, December 10th at the Lakeside Country Club. Serving as the hub of information, collaboration and education for growth of a vibrant hospitality and tourism industry, the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance is an association with over 600 tourism related businesses, and is a leader for regional tourism growth and sustainability in the Finger Lakes.

FLTA reached out to partner businesses to receive nominations for individuals who exemplified excellence in customer service throughout the 2019 year. After careful review by the selection committee, comprised of previous year’s winners of the award, this year’s winner, James Merritt was chosen. His dedication to go above and beyond to take care of the customer, as well as his attention to brides during their big day has helped Glenora Wine Cellars to be inducted into “The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame”. The online customer reviews of James are stellar. These are just a few amongst many reasons why he was this year’s recipient.

Alison Hunt from Congressman Reed’s office recognized Merritt with a Congressional proclamation for his achievement.

Merritt, nominated by Administrative Manager Kerry Keller of Glenora Wine Cellars, was one of five individuals nominated for the 2019 Excellence in Customer Service award. Others nominated, and stood in recognition for their superior customer service were; Teresa Fico from Painted Bar Stables, Steve Bolger from Main Street Drivers, George DiTomasso from Dr. Frank’s winery, and Ed Wightman from the Finger Lakes Boating Museum.

“This holiday event is a great opportunity to connect and catch up, all while celebrating the holiday season with good cheer and good food. We want to highlight the excitement of the season and use this time to recognize excellent customer service from front line staff who have really made a difference throughout the year.” said FLTA President, Cindy Kimble
