Trail Stewardship with NYS Parks

Tuesday, June 22 @ 7 p.m.

Many people think the job of NYS Parks is to take money at the gate, clean bathrooms, and mow the grass. But NYS Parks, officially known as the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP), is responsible for a wide array of stewardship projects, including natural resource, historical and cultural projects - and some of them are really cool.

Join us for a special two-part FLT Connect event to learn more about NYS Parks and the work they do. First, Steuben Brewing Company will host an engaging presentation with Josh Teeter from NYS Parks on Tuesday, June 22. You can attend this event live or via Zoom (tickets to both are available using the link below).

Then, join us for a hike in Robert H. Treman State Park with Josh on Saturday, June 26 to see some NYS Parks projects first hand!

You may choose to attend one or both events. We hope to see you!

Leave No Trace Principle #2: Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces Thursday, June 29 @ 7 p.m.

FLT Connect: Understanding Leave No Trace Principle #2, Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces

About this event

Christy and Michaela are hitting the trail to demonstrate Leave No Trace Principle #2: Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces.

There is a lot to consider when you're planning an overnight or backpacking trip on the FLT. Michaela and Christy spent a night on Map M20, taking care to think through where to set up a tent, how to minimize impact on vegetation while we were hiking, and other aspects of this important LNT principle.
