Cole Wilson joined us at Damiani Wine Cellars in the summer and fall of 2019, lending a hand and his considerable knowledge and charisma in the tasting room and getting a feel for our philosophy and business practices (he was already VERY familiar with our wines – he was somewhat shocked to discover exactly how much of our wine he had purchased over the years before joining our team).
After finishing the high season with us he rejoined us in the winter of that same year as our very first and very needed Director of Operations.
As well as his varied experience with Finger Lakes wines and wineries, and of course with Damiani wines in particular, he brings his unique business savvy into play as well. He spent a good portion of his life in finance and banking, working for Chase Manhattan Bank, a hedge fund called FX Concepts, and starting his own small business, M2 Global Management. He combines his love of Finger Lakes wine and knowledge of the area, with his financial and business savvy to enhance the business side of Damiani Wine Cellars. He is also active in the New York Wine and Grape Foundation and is pursuing a certificate in Wine Business Management at Sonoma State University.
Cole has been spending time in the Finger Lakes since his childhood and has been a homeowner in Ovid since 2003. He has always been a strong advocate for Finger Lakes wine, hosting winemakers and working at multiple wineries in varying roles. Cole is an avid skier and water skier. He also loves to bicycle. He biked across the country when he was a younger man and still bikes as often as he can in the summertime. He is the proud father of two boys, Zach and Curtis and is married to Karen Wilson, who is a Pediatric physician and an excellent cook as well!
WHAT IS COLE DRINKING?
Cole is currently enjoying a wine from his cellar, the 2012 Cabernet Franc Barrel Select. He loves the peppery and spicy finish of our Cabernet Francs. While the 2012 was sold out years ago, you can get in on the 2019 Cabernet Franc and save some in your cellar.
