The Inns of Aurora to Hire over One Hundred New Positions

Apr 26th, 2021

Aurora, N.Y. (February 26, 2021) — The Inns of Aurora is excited to announce the opening of over one hundred new job postings at the boutique resort over the next three months. Despite challenging economic conditions, the Inns of Aurora has continued to expand their accommodations and dining offerings in Aurora, bringing tourism to the area and creating local jobs with long-term opportunities.

The largest focus of growth has been the Spa at the Inns of Aurora, with treatments designed and delivered by Rasa Spa. The late spring 2021 scheduled opening of the state-of-the-art spa campus — with 15,000 square feet of guest space, including a salon, café, single and co-ed saunas, six jetted spa pools, and ten treatment rooms — has prompted hiring for dozens of positions, including massage therapists, receptionists, estheticians, and support staff. Additionally, to accommodate the new influx of guests that the opening of the Spa will bring, the Inns of Aurora is also hiring new team members for its hospitality and culinary operations: servers, cooks, bartenders, dishwashers, housekeepers, and maintenance staff. The opening of the Taylor House conference and event center later in 2021 will bring further business to Aurora.

“Aurora is truly a beautiful place,” says Sue Edinger, Chief Operating Officer at the Inns of Aurora. “But it’s our incredible team that makes our resort so special. Their passion for their work and their commitment to each other inspires me and enchants our guests to return time and time again. I’m incredibly proud of all that they have accomplished and thrilled to be able to offer others the opportunity to work alongside them.”

The opportunities provided by these jobs is part of the Inns of Aurora’s larger mission to restore the Village of Aurora and bring vitality to a treasured place that had fallen on hard economic times. The Inns of Aurora began in 2001 as a project of the Aurora Foundation — a partnership between Pleasant T. Rowland and Wells College — to restore Aurora’s grand historic homes, many of which had fallen into disrepair. Now fully under the stewardship of Rowland, Aurora’s landmark buildings have been transformed from aging or shuttered historical properties into thriving tourist destinations, preserving their heritage while giving them new life. Providing Cayuga County and the surrounding area dozens of new jobs and tourism revenue — at a time when they are especially needed — is a fulfillment of that original vision.

The Spa at the Inns of Aurora also brings in the partnership of another local enterprise: Rasa Spa. Co-founded by Rachel Hogancamp in 2006, Rasa Spa is the premier day spa in the Finger Lakes with a focus on healing therapeutic treatments and exceptional client service. In addition to its main location in Ithaca, Rasa Spa has a second location in Watkins Glen and provides massage therapy services at the Inns of Aurora’s Schoolhouse Activity Center. Rasa Spa will manage and operate the Spa at the Inns of Aurora and will be hiring many of the new positions.

“This is a really exciting partnership for us and has been a decade in the making. The depth of treatment that will be possible in this new space is really extraordinary, and it aligns with our holistic approach to wellness,” says Rachel Hogancamp, co-founder of Rasa Spa. “Luxury wellness spas that are designed to this standard of quality, in a wonderful location like this, are few and far between… We think that the level of sophistication this campus offers for wellness professionals will be a big draw, and we’re looking forward to expanding our world-class team.”
