Popular Finger Lakes Winery's Rescue Dogs to Host Woofstock to Help Out Less Fortunate 4-Legged Friends

May 09th, 2018

Interlaken, NY) Americana Vineyards Winery is is very pleased to announce that their rescue dogs and official winery greeters, Maverick and Lilly, will again be hosting Woofstock, now in its sixth year, to benefit local shelters and rescues on June 2, from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at the winery. Kids, pets and parents are all invited and asked to bring donations of pet food and supplies to support these local shelters and rescues: Pet the Pet ProgramFetch a Friend RescueBrowncoat Cat Rescue, and new this year, Cortland Community SPCA.  In addition, and also new to the event for 2018, is Rochester-based Brindle Posse Rescue who will receive all the dog food for their food distribution program. They focus on finding permanent "furever homes" for dogs who had been previously adopted but were again surrendered.

Mav & Lil, who chronicle their life as winery ambassadors on Instagram are both Labrador Retrievers, like their predecessors Max & Rubie, who were the original inspiration for the event. Both are rescue pups, Maverick from Tennessee via the Wings of Rescue, and Lilly locally from Ithaca, as a surrender to the Tompkins County SPCA.

"These two are the perfect addition to our family," said the pooches' Dad and winery owner, Joe Gober, Jr.  "And it's our constant hope that other families find the perfect furbabies for them. Woofstock helps to support the small, independents shelters and rescues who care for these animals while they wait for their forever families. These rescues work so hard with so few resources, and all they want is to make the right connection between pets and people. We're so happy to include even more rescues from all over the Finger Lakes area this year. They all need help making ends meet and providing for the animals in their care, so we're really upping the ante this year, with a goal of $7500 in cash and supply donations. We are looking for all the animal lovers out there to help us out!"

Americana has always been a pet-friendly winery, and a strong animal rights advocate. The winery team decided to bring it all together with a party, with Americana donating the time, space, winery products, event costs and marketing to do it right. The staff also donates their tips, while community members, family and friends all volunteer their time to make the event a continued success.
