Sales, Specials in Store (and on the Sidewalk) at Skaneateles’ Curbstone Festival

Whether shopping is your passion or your pastime, you’ll find bargains galore at Skaneateles’ Curbstone Festival and Sidewalk Sales July 18-20.

The family-friendly event runs along Genesee, Jordan and Fennell streets. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. “During Curbstone, the streets come alive with unique bargains, while children are enchanted by balloon art, juggling and face-painting,” says Hilary Fenner, executive director of the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event. “It’s a longstanding tradition—people plan their summer vacations around it.”

This year, more than 30 merchants are scheduled to take part. Among the sales and specials sure to delight shoppers:

• Imagine will present a large post-renovation sale, with discounts of 40 to 60 percent.

• Fleur-de-lis Floral Design will offer plant specials (including a great selection of succulents and air plants), and sales on ribbon, baskets, pots and silk flowers. Prices start at $1.

• Rhubarb Kitchen Shop will offer 50 percent off kitchen gadgets and cooking accessories and will host guests throughout the weekend: Karen Lockwood of Lockwood Lavender Farm will sell bouquets of lavender Thursday and Saturday, and representatives of Finger Lakes Harvest will sample shrubs (drinks made from locally harvested fruit, organic cider vinegar and organic cane sugar) Friday.

• Gallery 54 will feature sales on jewelry, paintings, ceramics, fiber art, sculpture, prints, cards, photography and wood art.

• cate & sally will offer closeouts and specials on a wide selection of clothing and accessories, including Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Eileen Fisher and Fresh Produce Sportswear.

• Lolë will offer 20-50 percent off leggings, tanks, swimwear, jackets and more.

• Emma James Boutique will offer an array of women’s clothing and shoes for $30, and accessories and gift items for $10, $15 and $20.

• Skaneateles300 will feature deep discounts on shoes, accessories, denim, dresses and more.

• The Local Branch will offer 20-50 percent off hand-printed apparel, leather samples and home goods; 10 percent off purchases over $100 inside the store; and free giveaways each day with email signup.

• Drooz + Co. will offer sales on household goods and decor, gift items, puzzles and jewelry.

• Board & Brush Creative Studio, a first-time participant in Curbstone, will offer 15-minute “make-and-take” sessions for $15.

No reservations needed. Several nonprofit organizations will be on hand, including the Skaneateles Festival, Skaneateles Lake Association, Skaneateles Foundation, Central New York Land Trust and Baltimore Woods. The Jackman Twins, who perform magic, juggling and balloon art, will entertain from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, noon to 3 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Parking for the Curbstone Festival is available at metered spots along the street or in the municipal lot (accessed through Genesee or State streets), where parking is 75 cents an hour and all-day parking is $6.

Free parking is available on various side streets, in the parking lot on Fennell Street between Skaneateles Town Square/Ace Hardware and SAVES, and by the Austin Park Pavilion (across from St. Mary’s Church on Jordan Street).
