Schweinfurth receives grant from SKARTS to fund Juneteenth events AUBURN, NY (July 29, 2021) – The Schweinfurth Art Center received a $900 grant from the Skaneateles Area Arts Council in support of its Juneteenth celebration.

The two days of events, June 18 and 19, included online artist talks and storytelling sessions and the launch of a community project to decorate flags on themes of contributions by people of color and social justice.

“We are very grateful for the financial assistance of the Skaneateles Area Arts Council,” said Program Director Davana Robedee. “This funding helped pay for Juneteenth storytelling performances and flags for our community project.”

Flags for the project are still available for pickup at the Schweinfurth. Artists are free to use their own style in decorating, whether that be painting, printmaking, collage, fiber art, etc. The flags will go on display at the art center and New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center starting Aug. 21, 2021.

Videos of the artist talks are available for viewing on the Schweinfurth’s website at schweinfurthartcenter.org/juneteenth/ <https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0019pQHjLuu5r-5YZGASCj4kPuDGFxzglT96ve9dGIj0a_UJTdKycoN8awMQa0ruqknlRcFFIDTM6gFppHIVM06W3fqjK-pPbXVa20Man1kvPZcPvG9iZuPpTwFRsVv1ZP5DGhO_QITm4YmnyAxp4pko1lG_wSdGLm58vz3b8BRYgy3nGTTv2icKg==&c=50BmTwwr11MiQ3fUdEaL7WTBi9ue1ClSDMUEbUVSWAV_MAitXtUxTw==&ch=h6TqJKnTostAwzqlo5zB9X5wkg-X7hpnOND2Ef4Wc3j0Ci0o2nDznA==> .
