“Silent Movies in our Parks,” Walk in the Park episode 219

Nov 10th, 2022

Based on a presentation by the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park (Tremanparkfriends.org) in 2019 at the History Center of Tompkins County, this encore episode of Walk in the Park explores the movie industry in Ithaca NY in the nineteen teens and how it used many of our scenic resources (now in parks and preserves) as settings for films.; including Enfield Glen (now Robert H. Treman State Park), Taughannock Falls, Fall Creek Gorge, Cascadiila Glen, Stewart Park (then Renwick Park), and Ludlowville Falls on Salmon Creek in Lansing.

“Silent Movies in our Parks” shows this week on Ithaca TV and online (anytime), with three cablecasts on channel 13, 9 PM Thursday, 3 PM Saturday, and finally at 9 AM Saturday, November 12.
