Go Behind the Scenes at Rose Hill Mansion
Geneva, N.Y.: Special monthly Behind-the-Scenes tours of Rose Hill Mansion will be offered during the 2023 season. The tours will run at 11 a.m. on the first and third Saturday of every month on May 6 & 20, June 3 & 17, July 1 & 15, August 5 & 19, September 2, and October 7 & 21. These tours are not the same as the regular tour. They are an opportunity for visitors to see and learn about areas of the house not usually accessible to visitors, including the basement and belvedere (the square tower on the roof).
Admission for the Behind-the-Scenes Tour is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for college students with ID, and $6 for children. The tour is recommended for adults and children over 10 years old. Please be advised that there are many stairs to climb and some confined spaces included in the tour. For this reason, space on the tour is limited, and advance tickets are required. Tickets can be purchased at historicgeneva.org.
Once a working farm, the house and surrounding grounds at Rose Hill are open seasonally for guided tours. Built in 1839, the elegant Greek Revival house was the center of a busy and productive farm at mid-century, occupied by the Swan family from 1850-1890. The property also has a magnificent view of Seneca Lake and nearby farmlands.
The Rose Hill Mansion Gift Shop is open whenever the house is open. The shop carries historically inspired and locally made items, as well as souvenirs, history books, jewelry, and home decorative items.
Rose Hill Mansion is located at 3373 Route 96A, about a mile south of Routes 5 & 20, near Geneva, New York. For more information about Rose Hill, call 315-789-3848 or visit historicgeneva.org.
Rose Hill Mansion is owned and operated by Historic Geneva, formerly the Geneva Historical Society, at 543 South Main Street, Geneva.
