Trolley Tours Partners with Steele Memorial to Bring Huck Finn to Kids

Aug 15th, 2017

Thanks to a partnership between the summer Trolley into Twain Country Tours and Steele Memorial
Library, school age trolley riders will receive a complimentary copy of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
from Thursday, August 17 through Labor Day weekend. It is hoped the books will excite children and
families to learn more about Elmira’s Twain legacy and the lovable characters he brought to life here.

An Elmira legacy for over 30 years, the trolley tours depart on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on
Tuesdays through Saturdays through September 2. Tours include a stop to go inside the Mark Twain
Study at Elmira College, while the last tour of the day offers a different route that also includes a stop at
the author’s gravesite at Woodlawn Cemetery. Riders may board from the lobby of the Chemung Valley
History Museum located at 415 E. Water St., Elmira. Adults are $8, students ages 5-18 are $4, and
children 4 and under are free.

The tours are operated as a joint initiative between Chemung County, the Chemung Valley History
Museum, Terp’s Enterprises, and the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce. For reservations or
more information, call the History Museum at (607)734-4167.
