Bacon on the Lakein: There’s more than just wine in the air along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail

Mar 11th, 2021

March 11, 2021, Romulus, NY- The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is hosting their Bacon on the Lakein event on April 16, 17, and 18, 2021. Attendees will be able to choose from multiple pre-determined itineraries for any 1 of those days that will take them to 6 participating wineries. At each stop, they will enjoy a wine and food pairing that will satisfy all their bacon needs.

Some of the recipes that attendees will get to sample include Caramelized Onion, Bacon, and Apple Flatbread, Loaded Baked Potato Soup, Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole, and Bacon, Banana, Maple Pound Cake with Peanut Butter Icing. These dishes will be paired with hand-picked wines that complement each bite of food. This year, the focus will be more on experiencing the pairing, which elevates both the food AND the wine. Though they’re only sampling from 6 of the wineries, they’ll get to take home recipes from all 12 participating wineries.

“The wine trail and the individual wineries have worked tremendously hard to figure out a safe way to bring you this event, so naturally, it’s going to look a little different,” exclaims Cayuga Lake Wine Trail’s Executive Director. “What remains true is the top-notch wine, tasty food, and overall good time the guests will have. We’re certain everyone who attends will have an absolute blast, in the safest way possible!”

The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail wineries are safe and remain in compliance with the various state rules and regulations. Those still open and offering tastings are seated, snacks are served with the tastings or flights, and additional cleaning routines have been set in place. For further information on individual winery offerings and hours of operation, the Wine Trail has many up-to-date resources on its website to help you plan your trip.
