Painted Scenes of Woolen Warmth DeTOUR

Thursday, December 17, 6:00 pm–7:00 pm

$25; $20 for MAG Members

Meet at the Admissions Desk

In the 21st century, we turn up the thermostat when we are cold — but how did people in the past stay warm in winter? Join historian Brandon W. Brooks this holiday season for a MAG DeTOUR that explores how warmth, and staying warm have been depicted in artwork and stitched into historic clothing. How might the different technologies of staying warm be represented in artworks or the clothing we all used to wear? Does the color red truly make us feel warmer when we see it or wear it? All this and more is explored in this rousing winter Fashion and Art DeTOUR.

To submit a request for ASL interpretation, please email access@mag.rochester.edu at least two weeks before the tour.

For questions about this event, please contact MAG Engagement Manager Jessica Gasbarre at jgasbarre@mag.rochester.edu. Ticket sales end on Thursday, December 17, at 6:15 pm. Ticket includes DeTOURâ„  and museum admission.
