New Hope Mills Named SBA Syracuse District Rural Business of the Year Award Ceremony
CAYUGA COUNTY, NY — New Hope Mills Manufacturing Inc. has been named the National Small Business Week Syracuse District Rural Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration Syracuse District Office.
The award recognizes small businesses that demonstrate leadership, resilience, growth, and a meaningful impact within their communities.
With roots in Cayuga County dating back more than two centuries, New Hope Mills has remained a family-owned business committed to helping families make memories around the table. Known for its pancake mixes, baking products, café, and country store, the company continues to serve customers locally and across the country while honoring its long-standing heritage.
“This recognition is truly an honor for our family and for everyone who has been part of New Hope Mills through the years,” said Doug Weed, third generation owner of New Hope Mills. “We are proud of where we came from, proud to still be growing here in Cayuga County, and grateful for the loyal customers, dedicated employees, and community support that have made it possible.”
Today, the business continues to be shaped by multiple generations of the Weed family. Alongside third-generation leadership, members of the fourth generation are now working in the business as well — continuing a legacy of hard work, innovation, and family values.
“New Hope Mills has been part of our family’s story for 79 years, and this honor means so much to us,” said Dawn Weed-Korbel, third generation of the family business. “We have always been committed to quality and producing wholesome products we are proud to feed our own families. We are grateful to continue serving local families and those across the nation.”
Originally based in Moravia, New Hope Mills relocated to Auburn in 2002 and continues to invest in its future while remaining deeply connected to the people and communities of Cayuga County.
An award ceremony will be held at New Hope Mills, 181 York Street, Auburn, NY 13021, on May 7 at 10:00 a.m. Members of the press and the public are welcome to join in celebrating this achievement.
As the company looks ahead, New Hope Mills remains focused on growth, innovation, and continuing the tradition that has defined the business for generations.
