As 2025 has come to a close, so has the 100th anniversary year of the establishment of Taughannock Falls State Park near Trumansburg, NY and north of Ithaca along the west shore of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region.
The 215-feet-high waterfall has long been boasted to be the tallest falls east of the Rockies. Or the tallest in the eastern US. Or the tallest straight-drop waterfall in the east. Or even the tallest waterfall in New York State. Yet it may be none of these.
