In this Walk in the Park encore episode (224) from 2019, we interview Kathleen Damiani, former regional recreation coordinator for the Finger Lakes Region of NewYork State Parks. In 1979, she initiated the annual concert series at Taughannock Falls State Park near Ithaca and Trumansburg, NY, which continued uninterrupted for 40 years. The pandemic paused the series for two years, and it resumed in 2022. But due to financial limitations, the concert series is not taking place in 2023.
In the beginning, it was called the Taylor Vintage Summer of Song for its principal sponsor in the early years. Damiani explains the vision that inspired her, the challenges and support she received, and the popular legacy of concerts in the park that continued for decades.
