A series by Josh Dolan utilizing broken and rescued guitars as a canvas for collage giving them new life as art pieces.
April Gallery Night with Josh Dolan's "Broken Guitars"

Join us in the Grayhaven Lounge for BROKEN GUITARS,  a series by Josh Dolan utilizing broken and rescued guitars as a canvas for collage giving them new life as art pieces. The imagery of horses and the cosmos are often found in these works which tap into our subconscious need to ride! And broken things like broken people can still be beautiful and find new life.

Josh has been a maker since childhood but only recently returned to active status as a visual artist. The pandemic, as for many of us, illustrated just how fleeting life is and forced him to choose a life of art and music. Not only is he a visual artist, but he’s also a pretty decent musician, singer and songwriter; having released his first record in 2023 with The 86ers.

When not pursuing his passion for music and art he does stonework around ithaca in summer, and handyman projects during the off-season

Vertical Tastings - April 2024

Join us as we dig through our wine library and sample some older vintages! Vertical tastings enlighten one’s understanding as to the role vintage conditions, winemaking practices, vineyard sites, and plain fate have in creating each wine’s personality

This event will be held in our Tasting Room on Sunday, April 7th, from 4-6 pm and will focus on Chardonnay vintages 2013, 2016, 2017 and Pinot Noir vintages 2011, 2012, 2015.

As always we will compare with the current vintage.  Bottles will be available to purchase, with a one bottle limit.

Winemaker/Owner Vinny Aliperti will guide you through each vintage.   These are interactive events, and we encourage you to ask questions!

silhouette of Phoenix building at night
Solar Eclipse Viewing Event

On January 24, 1925 Auburn witnessed a total solar eclipse, which for many was a once in a lifetime experience. This rare astronomical phenomena attracted the attention of local scientist Theodore Case. Ted and members of his lab worked with the Colby Radio Research Lab while observing, documenting, and even filming the solar eclipse from the roof of the Masonic Temple in Auburn.

On April 8, 2024 Auburn will again experience a total solar eclipse. Join us for a unique viewing experience on the roof of the iconic Phoenix Building, right next to where Case recorded the eclipse in 1925, and one of the highest points in the city.

Schedule:
12 pm - meet at Phoenix Building, lunch provided
12:30 pm - Presentation by Cayuga Museum staff: history of solar eclipses, the Case Research Lab, and more
1 - 2 pm - Behind the scenes tour of Phoenix Building with owner Andrew Simkin
2 - 3 pm - Tour of clock tower and roof, prepare for eclipse

Eclipse: The total solar eclipse visits New York beginning at 3:16 pm with the final exit of the Moon’s shadow from the state at 3:29 pm. Through New York, the speed of the Moon’s shadow will accelerate from about 2210 miles per hour to about 2735 miles per hour.

After eclipse | Approximately 4 pm - Reception at Cayuga Museum, tour of Case Research Lab (optional)

This experience is $250 per person, including meals, special presentations, access to an exclusive tour of the Phoenix Building, exclusive viewing access from the Phoenix Building roof, a private reception, and a unique experience for this once in a lifetime event!
Reservations required as capacity is limited to 10 guests.

Safety and accessibility information:
The roof of the Phoenix Building is accessible through the clock tower, which requires walking up multiple flights of stairs in a small space. Flat shoes are required, rubber soles or sneakers are ideal. Eclipse viewing glasses will be provided.

This event is rain or shine, and reservations are non-refundable.

2024 Wine & Herb Event- April Weekend

Drink. Eat. Garden. Repeat. Jumpstart your herb garden by gathering potted herbs and veggies showcased in our delectable food samples, complete with a matching recipe collection.

Indulge in herb-infused dishes and discover the perfect wine pairing for each. Take home the recipes, ensuring you'll shine as the star chef at your next gathering. Plus, enjoy up to three additional wine tastings to complete your delightful experience.

  • April 27/28 and May 4/5 from 10am to 5pm, both days
  • 10 participating wineries
  • This event is structured like our pre-2020 events:
    • Select a specific starting winery for you and your friends to start at. (This is where you’ll receive your souvenir wine glass and first potted herb or vegetable plant!)
    • Travel the trail as you please after your first stop, collecting potted herbs or vegetable plants as you go.
    • The ticket is good for BOTH days, so feel free to spread the wineries out over both days or come on just Saturday or just Sunday. (Pro-tip: Sunday tends to be a lighter day, so the wineries won’t be as crowded, which makes for an excellent time to visit and get more one-on-one attention with less waiting.)
  • Groups are limited to 12.
  • Expect diversity. Some wineries will be offering the standard bar tasting while others will be offering a sit-down experience that may take longer. Take your time during the day and enjoy both!

Herbs this year are Basil, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cilantro, Cherokee Purple Tomato, Oregano, Parsley, Rosemary, and Sweet Banana Pepper..

Tickets:

Each ticket is good for the whole weekend to visit each winery once. Single tickets are $65 and couples tickets are $95 (plus tax and service fee) and include:

  • 1 wine and food pairing at each winery, per person
  • 3 additional wine tastings per winery, per person
  • 1 potted herb or vegetable plant per ticket (1 for a single ticket, 1 for a single DD ticket, and 1 for a couples ticket)
  • 1 recipe collection per ticket
  • 1 souvenir wine glass per person

Discounted designated driver tickets are also available. The DD gets all the same perks as a regular ticket, minus the wine. They also get a DD travel mug, rather than a wine glass. $45 for a single (plus tax and service fee).
