“Gorges in Stereo,” Walk in the Park now showing!

Mar 18th, 2022 - Mar 19th, 2022
Location: On Television, On Television , Ithaca NY

“Gorges in Stereo,” On TV and online. 9 PM Thursday March 17 on Ithaca cable channel 13 and Cortland channel 2, and online anytime https://walkinthepark.tv. Next cablecasts Friday 3 PM and Saturday 9 AM. The schedule repeats next week.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, photographers made stereographs of countless scenes throughout the country, including our beautiful gorges of the Finger Lakes region of central NY State. Using a stereoscope, a viewer could see a 3D image. Now there is a revival of the art of stereoscopy as exemplified by the new book, The Taughannock Falls Experience, by award-winning 3D photographer Diego Ruiz.

Also in this encore episode of Walk in the Park from 2018, we will see some historic photographs of the great flood of 1935 and its impact on Robert H. Treman State Park. And finally, we will take a walk along Fall Creek in Varna, NY in the Monkey Run Natural Area of Cornell Botanic Gardens. Photo courtesy of Bill Hecht.
